I bid on it 7 days ago - just won it a couple hours ago. The speakers are worth what the purchase price is. I have an extra volume knob and selector knob. Also have another power supply so I can test it. I think it will be fine. If not, then I will keep the speakers for a project  .

I would really like to see these speakers in a 777  .

I think they might fit a M70 and many other boomboxes too  .

I have a catalog that sells yellow/black colored carbon fiber 8" woofers. They look very cool for a Resto. project.

Yeah, those speakers are about $60-$80 each and 80w RMS :-O .

EDIT, the more I look for carbon woven speakers I am realizing that there aren't many out there and they COST A LOT! :-O None of the 6" ones (same size as TDKs) have any tweeters integrated either. The only ones I saw with a tweeter was the 8" Memphis brand components for car audio :hmmm: .

The TDK boomboxes for parts are worth at least $100+ :-O

I think more and more of these will be popping up on eBay.
They may be floor models from different retailers.
Good score fuz I was watching that one and it went cheap
Where did you get the extra parts? I might buy some spares to have for mine.

blu_fuz, sorry for the long delay........that 18 volt 1.7 amp power supply will be perfect, as long as the polarity is correct and the plug actually fits the jack. If anyone has this box and knows the proper polarity of the DC plug, please feel free to chime in!

As I said, the cardinal rule for DC power supplies is that the voltage needs to be the same, and the current needs to be equal or higher. Remember, higher current capabilities WILL NOT hurt the device you're powering, since they will only draw what they need for current and nothing more :-)

Thanks for the tip on the power supply.

I will stop using the printer power supplies and probably just breakdown and buy the real plugs for these.

I got the 2nd one yesterday and I will have to go inside it to fix the power switch. This time I will take pics and post them in the "how to get in a TDK boombox" thread so you guys can visually see what's going on.

I have to see if Norm can rebuild the knob and then put it in. Then we should have 2 TDKs rockin! :breakdance:

Thank you :superduper: for getting that power/volume pot repaired. I got into the TDK this weekend and it is pounding away fantastic!

So we have 2 of these around. One for me and one for the wife.

I took a lot of pictures to add to my "how to get into a TDK boombox" thread :dunce:

Well, I'm dumb :dunce:

I didn't have my audio source turned up high enough for the RCA inputs on the TDK.

Works FANTASTIC and I havn't even done anything to it!

Do you have the mini stereo to USB input cable that came with box? If so you may want to try that, it has more punch than the RCA inputs

blu_fuz said:
AH, I didn't get the cords with the mini jacks on them. I got the AM/FM cords and the USB-to-IPOD cord.....

It's ok, sounds good.

One of these:

Yah the white one. I found when I used that connection it was better than the red/white RCA connection.

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to bring it back up. The 3.5mm and RCA line in jacks on the TDKs (2 and 3 speaker), you need to have the audio source turned WAY up compared to using the same audio source on another boombox.

Since Jwrok suggested the white USB/3.5mm cord, I finally bought one and tried it out. The USB jack on the boombox doesn't pickup any audio signal when the 3.5mm jack is plugged into a MP3 player :bang: .

So why does it need the input signal volume so much higher on these TDKs than other boomboxes??? I'm losing probably 1/4 of full volume plugging into the 3.5mm line in, and about 1/8 of full volume plugging into the RCA jacks......
