lol. Yeah, I clicked on my bookmark of it expecting to see $400-something.. since it was at $334 for the longest time..
My jaw about hit the floor!! :jawdrop: :jawdrop: I........could not...........believe it!
if you look at the bids it's kind of funny, someone did like 20+ bids trying to outbid someone.. every few seconds...

I understand paying top dollar for something when it's in great shape and electrically refurbished, or at least all working.

But this one to me just seems plain stupid. But then again, it's not my type of box and I'm not in the market for one so I guess you can never underestimate the actions of somebody that wants something bad enough. I also dislike it when people selectively disclose. This one reeks of it. Why test tape B with a tape but then deliberately NOT test tape A without putting a tape in it. That begs the question. Then says his tech says a part broke in Tape A and it can be fixed if the part can be found but what part is it and where do you get it from? Conion parts department? And he can't afford to pay to fix it but then doesn't disclose the repair estimate? And why would a tech look at it and NOT fix it, if just a simple rebelt? I never knew a tech to provide free estimates. When it's all open, it gets fixed since it also costs money to NOT fix it. Something doesn't smell all OK with this so not saying it can't be true. Just saying it smells fishy and doesn't all add up.... Selective disclosure.

If you read the code between the lines, I think he's saying Tape B can be fixed/rebelted and Tape A probably can never be fixed since a broken part (read: unobtanium) needs to be substituted.

My thoughts too after looking at the listing.

When I had the Conion TC999 that I got from member of s2g, I was told that a tech guy said that the top deck had broken gear and possibly could get gear from old car stereo with tape deck. Well needless to say the technician somehow misplaced the deck and screwed up bottom deck when he replaced belts :hmmm: I could honestly say that unless super clean and working 100%, I would not pay that much  but to each his own I guess

After seeing that auction end at that price (yea folks i still watch too but I have been very good lately  ) i'm guessing I should hold onto my NIB one a bit longer. :'-( Jeesh that $800+ surprised the hell out of me. I wouldnt be surprised tho if we see it relisted after the buyer decides not to pay. Wouldnt be the first time something like that has happenned.

Oh gawd I know who won that auction
He works with me on the force. Pretty much a noob. He wanted my M90 but for bubble gum prices. Told him these things cost way more than he thinks. I should of told him not to pay this much for that one. OH WELL ;-) :-/

I had a C126F, basically the same box, and had the same gear issue. My radio doctor replaced it with a new gear for $8. I believe he said he just got it from his normal parts stock. Not a hard fix. My original gear had cracked up.
