Here is my new Sharp entry :-) A small GF-8 . It´s in a beautyfull condition, everthings works fine. The sound is for this little one repectable :-D .
My question : Is this the smallest in the GF Series ? Or is this the GF-7 :hmmm:

Cheers and a nice weekend

Interesting, stylish and clean looking wee box there.

Tell me, because I can't be the only one wondering this; how does the machine "know" when a tape has had its record protect tabs taken out? :hmmm:

The tab depresses a tiny lever that unlocks the record key. In logic decks, it's a switch.
You've never manually depressed it to get some LED's to light?

I'm not big on the minis, but I really dig that little Sharp.

Edit: After getting a better look at the pics, now I understand your question. Man, I need a bigger screen on my phone.

I am a big fan of that Sharp Mini! I love it!

There is another Pioneer mini like that which got even digital clock and alarm that will play either radio or cassette for you. That sounded so good and looked very much like the GF-7.

Very beautiful.

And one more question.
If the cassette is inserted in from top, how the Capstan pin enters into the hole in the cassette?
Or else, the whole cassette mechanism should be swiveled into the cassette!

It seems like once the cassette is in the locked position, depressing the play function will make the whole mechanical assembly including the reel axles, capstan, pinch roller and heads all gets pushed forward to engage first followed by head and pinch roller and drive mechanism finally activate.

Mods, please give the o/p a medal for video making above and beyond the call of duty! Brilliant, and the mechanism looks very much like Sharp's high end car cassette separates of the period; very well built and not a single cubic inch of wasted space in there. I want one.

Wow!
"Ask and ye shall receive." I thought that was just an expression.
But as for the cassette write protection...
Excellent job, bro. Thanks!
