The tab depresses a tiny lever that unlocks the record key. In logic decks, it's a switch.Beosystem10 said:Interesting, stylish and clean looking wee box there.
Tell me, because I can't be the only one wondering this; how does the machine "know" when a tape has had its record protect tabs taken out?![]()
Intersting question. Maybe it doesnt even check! Everything can get recorded over.Beosystem10 said:Interesting, stylish and clean looking wee box there.

It seems like once the cassette is in the locked position, depressing the play function will make the whole mechanical assembly including the reel axles, capstan, pinch roller and heads all gets pushed forward to engage first followed by head and pinch roller and drive mechanism finally activate.AE_Stereo said:Very beautiful.
And one more question.
If the cassette is inserted in from top, how the Capstan pin enters into the hole in the cassette?
Or else, the whole cassette mechanism should be swiveled into the cassette!
I think we're gonna need to see a video...BoomboxLover48 said:It seems like once the cassette is in the locked position, depressing the play function will make the whole mechanical assembly including the reel axles, capstan, pinch roller and heads all gets pushed forward to engage first followed by head and pinch roller and drive mechanism finally activate.
