I finally had a chance to clean it up and it cleaned up pretty good.
cosmetically it looks really good. It does have a few issues:
  • When I plug the power cord in...it does turn on, but I cannot turn it off or on when I push the power button.
  • The REW and the FWD buttons are stuck...so when I power it on...it fast forwards and it does it even when I'm listening to FM.
  • 1 broken antenna.
I'm going to need some help

Is the power cord the right one? The in holes on this CFS 99 are closer unlike the regular types. It could be either not getting a good contact or may be not moving the battery/AC switch from battery to AC.

Did you change the belts on this unit? I would change belts and lubricate the push button levers, lock plate etc with light grease and see if it still gets stuck. It appears like some leaf switches are stuck and dirty too. As you know there are several leaf switches and levers activating them. I would take a closer look on the mechanical part and leaf switches.

FF, REW are all activated by cam and gear. Control lever from the front push in to activate the mechanism. Take a look at that cam gear mechanism. It could be stuck in some position on the lock plate even.

I will post a pic of that mechanism soon. It is a complicated mechanism with lots of levers and solenoid assisted shut off.

In my case the lock plate was not working well and lubricating with grease solved the lock up issues.

Other members should know better and can help here...

These things are HUGE! They don't look like monsters, but they are BIG! Damn near 931 sized, but heavier and more solidly built.

And Fresh Produce's Lasonic Laiden Sony looks like

Boomboxlover48,
Man I could have used those pictures while working on Peter's radio's. Like the pictures show, there is a cam mech on the back of the deck, that when you rotate, it basically resets all the buttons and puts the deck back in NEUTRAL. These are actually easy to rebelt. So if you rebelt it and reset it to neutral, it should fire up and play. Just don't push the buttons while it's powered off after you reset it to neutral.

Rebelt
Reset to neutral
Power up
Push buttons

After that, you should be good to go. (fingers crossed)

I actually needed to Reset it to neutral a few times, but it finally started working.

Glad that worked out....

I'm not sure where I got the belts or what the sizes were....They may have come from here: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/

I will see if I have any more info tucked away

The belt chart says it got 3 belts.

FRX 10.5 Flat belt goes on the motor pulley and flywheel

SCX 13.6 is the main motor belt that goes to 3 other pulleys in a twisted fashion.

SCY 4.0 is the counter
