Sharp GF508 no sound at all.

I will post the pic of the bad solder.

It is crazy! Sharp put two bare rigid copper connections from the amp board to the large PC board. One of it had a bad solder joint.

See the bad solder joint next to the plastic tie! That was the problem.

Great work. It's scary the amount of troubleshooting you had to go through to find the culprit.
I've got a sick 508 ST with a forum member trying to find a low volume fault.
Also a 508 SB on the way but I've never heard one of these boxes at full potential. Looking forward to it.

I had to take it all apart to reach the back of the board. Once you remove the cassette section and tuning dial the boards are all attached to the plastic chassis like GF777. The PB boards and chassis come out easily.

One of my 9696 had intermittent volume drop out from the right channel. The right volume slider cleaning and resetting solved the issue. It might have to do something with the top tone control board.


They are so good to listen to Jazz.
