Photo stealing on eBay continues...

This seller is using a picture I took of my C100 about a year ago and published here on boomboxery.
He just mirrored it .
I sent a nice email to him asking for a free phone case and credit in the descritpion or removal of the item from eBay.
I am actually somewhat proud to see my picture being used but it really shocked me to see it there

I think Max means that the seller used his picture to create the iPhone case.

Update:

I am in email contact with the head of the company that produces these iPhone cases .
She has no idea how the image made it on the cases and is going to contact the designers to hopefully surface the reason.

I told her that we may have some people on this site who may be interested in submitting photos for phone cases, etc.
I will let you know how it continues.

Bill, I recognize my babies .
The indicator was the bright color which reminded me of a photoshopped image I once did of my C100.
The green reel tape gave it away too.

Notice how the reflection in the tape run window is exactly the same.

They simply removed the Conion writing above the tuner window and mirrored the image.

They could have taken 2 seconds to cut and paste a good section of casing above the tuner window, thus eliminating the CONION logo like it was never even there instead of leaving a grey rectangle... and pasted that same good section over those two chips above the VU meters.. would have looked better in my opinion..

After some emails with the company that produces these cases, I got a package today with three free iPhone cases including the one with the photo of my Conion on it .
I have to say I am more than pleased with that .

What was their explanation? They don't seem like a very professional company if they allow their "designers" to just Google search and steal any image they find. I don't know what the copywright laws are in the UK, but maybe they noticed you were in Germany and figured they could get away with it.

I was in contact with the head of the company and the designer who was responsible for the case that used my photo. He said it was in some catalog of pictures without copyrights on them so I think the mistake was not in the company but rather somewhere else.
However, I have absolutely no problem with my photo being used on a phone case. I actually think it is pretty damn cool .
I was just curious and now I am happy with they apology and a few free cases (even with a VW Bug on one! That scares a bit though because they didn't know i had a Bug )

I agree in part..they're making a lot of money off that pic...BUT it doesn't have a copyright...and its on the web...so its actually public domain...
Pride in someone using your pic is reward enough....three free cases is a bonus...they didn't have to send him anything.

In the United States, photographers can legally defend themselves even if their photo shows up in the public domain
