Like many - love the design! But it looks too small and entry level. I would buy it if it was bigger and had some sort of an equalizer - maybe they will release one like that!

Regardless of the size this is the best "Retro" design I've seen. (Lasonics nowithstanding...) If...and that's a BIG if...they can be successful with this model then maybe we will see something bigger.

Interesting, I do wonder if it will actually be released since Philips sold the consumer electronics business to Funai in January.

According to this page the recommended price is 1199 Swedish krona, which roughly translates to 100-150$ or 100-150€

This is probably THE most faithful of all the current 'retro' designs......and by a brand-name too! Much more than the Lasonics, IMO, which really don't float my boat at all. I may have to try one of these!

oldskool is right - they have to see that their real retro design is successfull to continue drawing such nice boxes. So it's up to us to help them with their decision. If I can catch one here in Germany, I'll buy it.

if im honest,im warming slightly to it....i mean,nothing modern is cool,end of,BUT,this is the closest a company today has come to replicating a vintage era boomer
the tdk series boomers- no vintage features on these such as a tape deck or even a cd player,manufacturers wake up and smell the coffee,not everyone is obsessed with new gadgets that a prefixed with a letter i :annoyed: and a remarkable amount of people still play cd,s and cassettes,and basically have a bit of taste
lets not forget the dross like those beats doctor dre speaker dock things.....do people seriously think these are the way forward?take a crappy speaker and fit inputs to it so you can plug things into it?i can go buy an old guitar amp and have more fun than that :annoyed:
so,to get back to the philips,they have made a good effort with this one,ill grant them,as at least it has a proper,on board cd player.so good for you philips if i had the money to buy one would i?the answer is no unless its its at least 20 years old and has a layer of dust on it then im not interested.sorry guys

No worry retrohead, I'll buy it couple of this retro philips, then leave it to capture some layer of dust and I'll sell it one to you after 20 years for good money
After 20 years, maybe I can earn 5 grand like the discolite in the other thread for this philips

Am I the only one here who avoids any Philips electronics product?

I've been disappointed every time... apart from a decent toaster and a handful of light bulbs.
The quality of their gear has always felt to me as if it was made for preteen girls.

I may be alone in this thinking, but I actually don't want too many contemporary boxes to look retro.
I like the fact that when I have mine out on the streets that people see it and know it's from the original era and there is no mistaking.

..But it looks cool and I want one.

i wonder if youd get 5 thousand dollars for one of these in 20 years by then it will be the new discolite as i said before,its the closest a 'modern' company has come to producing a true throwback,but im agreeing with OSS,if and when you do take your old boxes on the street they will guaranteed get more positive attention than this modern philips would,all day long and hey devol-toni,give me a call about the dust thing in 20 years lol

If I had the money, I'd be buying cars and boxing them up for 20 years!
