I think this looks ok, it may be small but I like minis, and from the front with the door closed it doesn't look like a CD player :-)

Wowie zowie!! I love the look of it.
It'll probably sound really nice too, probably not much volume, but I bet it's rich and deep at
medium and low volumes.

Shame it plays CDs... I've got bugger all of them.

Rock On.

It is new product and they promote it in the new sale catalog for spring - summer 2013
It should be release on sale very soon :-)
I came to this information, since I do translations for their catalogs on Macedonian language. ;-)

I´ve found already a german manual. Good features for usb and cd, but only a switch for bass.
Would like to know, what it will cost.

:agree: :agree: :agree:

It got the looks of a boombox unlike TDK boxes. I wish they make bigger and powerful versions of the same before we all insert car radios in old boomboxes.

I like design, but I dont like small display...
When you play mp3's from cd or usb, you see only track numbers... :-/
When you listen radio you see only frequency.... :-/

Last year I buy mini system PHILIPS MCI 298 with very good touchscreen display.
When you play mp3's from cd or usb, you see album art and ID tag; :-)
When you listen radio you see RDS; :-)

Demo video (Radio and USB playback ) here: http://www.metacafe.com/w/9591203

I get your point about the display, but you can't really compare these :hmmm:

The MCI 298 is a micro home system that is mains only not a portable, and doesn't look like a box.
The new Philips looks like a box and can be powered using 6 c cells, so is a portable.
This is only my opinion of course :-)

gotta say i think this one will pleasantly surprise everyone, that looks like a bass port on the bottom left side of the box?
if it sounds anything like the 8614 then it's a winner cos it looks beaut

Liking that design bit Sharp VZ'ish with that front door and generally quite tasteful with a good nod to the old school.

I think it's a positive thing for keeping the good old boombox concept 'current' when companies try ideas like this.

But I agree, bigger and more 'boom' is definitely better (for us anyway!)

I love the square look of this box and really hope it sells well. Then they might make a much bigger 15v version for us traditionalists.
That would be kick arse!!

James.... :-)
