Has anybody found a product that is successful at removing paint overspray from the plastic surfaces of a boombox without completely destroying the finish?

I just use my fingernail and some dish soap

If that doesn't work try using a nylon squeegee

91% isopropyl alcohol and Qtips. Works great and doesn't scratch up the softer plastics like tuner dial plastic.

100%

Also, if your finger nails are short or too soar from doing it, a guitar pick works well too.

If Isopropanol cannot remove, 0% Mineral Spirits (odorless mineral spirits-OMS) helps! That is the next level.
I like Chris's idea of using a guitar pick.
I used the blunt end of broken tooth pick)

Patience is the secret. I moisten the paint specks with warm water and neuter PH soap (I use a microfiber cloth). I repeat the operation for a few days in a row. Each time, the specks reduce in size, until they go away just like that.
