Has anybody found a product that is successful at removing paint overspray from the plastic surfaces of a boombox without completely destroying the finish?

Patience is the secret. I moisten the paint specks with warm water and neuter PH soap (I use a microfiber cloth). I repeat the operation for a few days in a row. Each time, the specks reduce in size, until they go away just like that.
