OK, OK, OK before the "He's Crazy" comments come flowing in (and I know they will  ). I want to tell a little background on these watches.

In the late 1970's and early 80's when the digital watch revolution came into play, I was floored and amazed with the melody watches from Casio and Armitron. My family never had the money for such "useless luxuries" as my dad would call them and when a few of the other kids at school would show them off I was so jealous. There were many models of course. I don't remember the exact one I lusted after.

But I found this one today at the swap meet. Got it for $10, not working. Thought I could just put a battery in it. I took it down to Batteries Plus to have them install it. They did and found it didn't work. The screen kind of flashed some digits, but cut out. :bang:. The kids gave me back the watch with the battery in it for FREE.

I showed it to my wife and got the "Well that was a waste of $10". :annoyed: :nonono:  No....No way man!

NOW IT'S ON! :annoyed:

You're crazy! :-D

But seriously, good job. There's no way my old-ass ears would ever hear that alarm.

Very cool. I remember those. Kids had those at school and used them to piss the teachers off.
Great job restoring it.
Looks real nice

Holy Moly! Now I've seen it all! Ha!ha,ha! Actually you did a very nice job on that cool old watch. You brought it back from the dead and where very clever about figuring out how to do it. Very nice job!

Yeah, wasn't the most stoked on the song, :-/ but what ya gonna do.

I did however parade it in front of Mrs Hausfrau and she said "for the three and a half hours you spent working on that, you could have earned significantly more going to work" :bang: :nugget: :annoyed: :nonono: Doesn't she see the "Art" man?

Whatever.... :fly-kite:

I need to make a list of model numbers so I can go back to the swap meet and find one with a better song    Maybe I'll sell this to Bo or Luke Duke! I know that Casio made a watch that played The Beatles "Hey Jude". I bet that's worth a fortune.

Nice find Chris! I used to own one similar to that Armitron. I collected digital watches long ago, always liked the interesting features. I had a Timex that you held up to your computer screen to download games into it and a Casio with a backlit touchscreen. Miss those days...

And it's playing "Dixie"!
I don't have the instructions and can't seem to find them online but on the face there are directions on what the buttons do and one of the buttons says "Song". I believe I can change the tune, if I can figure it out!

I too had a casio that downloaded off the screen. The problem was, if you were light sensitive it would give you a stroke when the screen flashed the pattern!
I had many casio watches, data banks, calculators ect. But never any watches that played songs.
I had a few friends in Jr high school (1980-81) that had some trick watches. One that had an FM receiver and a headphone jack and one that played a video game. It may have been frogger.
