If you find any where you can go and buy boomboxes do let us know...I think Dixons is out of stock

Seen a couple of beat up boxes for silly money at Camden market  but that's it :sadno:

there is very little in the way of boomboxes cropping up in west yorkshire,i dont even see the low specced, stripped out, basic features boxes anymore, but if anything does ever crop up,its normally totally beaten up to hell and scandalously priced.best off making friends with members on here as near to you as poss and organising purchases from their collections when they have them available.dont fall into the trap i did and buy rubbish just for the sake its there....think about the model and price its offered at,set yourself a limit and stick to it-if your limit is a tenner on a carboot, stick to it and dont spend a penny more....thats my advice ;-)

Hmm, charity shops used to be good for boxes but now that only the BHF can afford PAT testing and staff engineers, the real charities rarely have anything that can be connected to the mains and when they do, they have to remove the mains lead from it and stress that it's sold purely as an ornament. It's H&S gone mad I tells ya!
There is an Auntie Wainwright-style secondhand shop just across in Morpeth, about 9 miles inland, but they're more into valve stuff which is handy for those of us who like that sort of thing. I did get my incredibly rare Hacker RPC1 there though, at a mere £12 - in unused from new condition with all of its dial print intact and a full complement of station markers - when the cheapest working one I ever saw on eBay went for over £90 and they usually bring nearer £200, possibly because it's the best ever UK-built mono box but more likely because its tape transport is built by Nakamichi, yes, that Nakamichi.

Last time I drove down to Newcastle for a look in the big BHF in Byker, they had some truly shocking, '90s Aiwa shelf system and were asking £80 for it, in a condition that made it look as though someone had recently been sick all over its grilles.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.
