Going out and snagging a Sony FB-919CD that I nabbed on Craigslist later on today......what do you guys think? Is it worth the $50 I'm going to drop on it? Not too info on the Net about these, but there's always Boomboxery!

They seem to be AC only but there was a battery pack available...the FH 919 I grabbed today turned out to be a mini-system version of the FH 909 (I think). But if you take the plastic side bezels off the components; the screw holes for the mounting hardware are there! :w00t:

Anyway, this is not a boombox, but it's a cool as fudge little system. It is made up of four separate components: Tape deck, integrated amp/digital EQ, tuner, and CD player. It appears to be the 'overseas' version, as the tuner has shortwave and the FM portion tunes in 500 hertz increments instead of the usual 1 or 2khz.. They call this a 'worldwide' tuner. I have a Sony Walkman that defaults to this mode of tuning as well. This is a high quality system that is a prime example of Sony's glory days. It all works, after a few minor fixes. For you FH purists, thisstill has the famous square woofers with the APM logo; plus dome type mids and tweeters :-)

Gotta get some pics up.

Cool are those the original speakers? I can't be sure but i seem to think james67 has one of these and his speakers looked quite a bit different from those. Great unit man :-)

Thanks y'all! :-D
Bill, I'm 99% sure the speakers are original to that system, right down to the gold Sony logo
This seems to based on the FH series boomboxes, so that would explain the square woofers.
Yes, that tape deck is kind of what sold me on the unit; you can't see it in the pic but the well lights up when a cassette is inserted :w00t:

Oh yes, the drawer under the Realistic DX-440 shortwave radio in the upper left hand corner of the pics is chock full of of NOS blank cassettes!
