They seem to be AC only but there was a battery pack available...the FH 919 I grabbed today turned out to be a mini-system version of the FH 909 (I think). But if you take the plastic side bezels off the components; the screw holes for the mounting hardware are there!
Anyway, this is not a boombox, but it's a cool as fudge little system. It is made up of four separate components: Tape deck, integrated amp/digital EQ, tuner, and CD player. It appears to be the 'overseas' version, as the tuner has shortwave and the FM portion tunes in 500 hertz increments instead of the usual 1 or 2khz.. They call this a 'worldwide' tuner. I have a Sony Walkman that defaults to this mode of tuning as well. This is a high quality system that is a prime example of Sony's glory days. It all works, after a few minor fixes. For you FH purists, thisstill has the famous square woofers with the APM logo; plus dome type mids and tweeters
