Some may wonder why I am bothering to post this tiny little Sanyo. It not worth anything....or is it?

Let me start off with the fact that I never paid attention to the differences in one radios reception to another when I was growing up. I lived in an area where AM and FM signals were strong and it seemed as though every radio could get the job done. Never gave it a thought.

Some of my wokeness to the quality of a receiver can be due to watching Shango066 on his YouTube channel. He aligns old radios and, through his videos and resurrection of radios, makes it clear that not all radio receivers are equal. Some need to be adjusted as the components on the boards drift in value. Others need help because someone was in there that shouldn't have been. But in the end, he usually gets everything squared away and he keeps some of his best performing models for his enjoyment when traveling.

While this little radio falls short in just about every area you can think of, there's one area it shines well in. Radio reception / Tuner.

This little Sanyo is the best performer for receiving SW/AM and FM signals I have ever seen. And while I am sure my other radios could use a tune up, this thing absolutely spanks my M90 and other higher end models on all bands. I can pick up foreign countries with this thing. Stations that are mute to other radios in my house this thing picks up without an issue. It is extremely dialed in. To put it in layman terms...this thing kicks a** !

It is for this reason I keep this little guy around. The irony in this whole thing was that this poor radio was left at the street for trash pickup.

Sometimes there's more than meets the eye when it comes to these little tiny vintage radios. Where it falls short, it more than makes up for in the radio receiver. Not all may work equally these days, but this one was dialed in by a pro. Probably had an inspection day at the plant so they tweaked the coils to perfection so the big wigs would be impressed.

I love a nice mini boombox just because sometimes these things can be like Swiss watches and Swiss Army knives at the at the same time they just have everything.

Sometimes you can find things in the trash you can't find anywhere else I can't walk by a pile of trash without stopping to look and see what's there.

You are so right Floyd. Seems like when everyone else is looking up, it pays sometimes to look down. I would have never thought this radio would be this good. I can even pick up the universal and national clock tone on SW. I love hearing the tick tick tick then a pause and then it says "At the tone the time will be xx:xx" When the tone strikes I can literally watch my phone change the minute.

Amazing how fast the signal travels. Must be at the speed of light

I have a couple of minis really all they do is pick up AM FM but at the end of the day I can't get rid of them and they come in handy during power outages. the older I get I realize you can't just scrap these things because they're never going to make any more of them.

In many cases it is not the size or heavy bass. That is why we have so many in our collection.
I adore my little Sanyo M7770K.It is a little wonder with the best reception and overall sound quality.

I know this model I can attest it sounds amazing and the detail of the sound is what makes it special . it's a great boombox. I have the black one because it's the one I'm used to.

Pioneer SK600 is another little gem in my collection. Radio reception is great with outstanding sound quality. I just leave the deck section alone. It is a royal pain (where the Sun don't shine) to fix those pioneer decks.
