too. Sometimes **** happens anyway and we should have some patience. With our hobby were all is way too old is common. The seller is offering good refund. Only problem is still if you want to buy a really mint the price dont matter. Cheap box dont fit in this category. But if you want to have 950 the price is more than good now . The box is not so bad and is possible to get back to glory. And i hate when people are talkin just about the price. Yeas i have really minty 950 and believe me im not going to sell it for less than 300 euro, actually im not goin to sell it anyway. But thats because i know it is real minty and i know i can not get those money for her anyway (not that im planing to do it). And when people are giving other eGay for compare - how you can tell that this listing is really minty too??? This one was looking minty too on the pictures. I bought mine with bad pictures from local add too. Didnt hope for so minty, but was luck. How many of us were buying some mints from the adds descriptions and when got them it turn to disaster? So common. some times we have luck some times not. Thats it.. And IMO when members are putting some boxes not here they showing respect to the members actually. We all were thinking - damn i was ****ed from eGay seller why not me to **** somebody else out there too. I hate eGay and buying just stuff which is new in box from there.
Sad story anyway. But when this happened on Egay i dont think that the fact is the seller member or not, should not be messed. If he sold it here in the forum - thats other song.
Feeling so bad when i see such a story anyway and hope all will finish good.
And dude why not custom - you saw the Melly's black 950? I think now is with BIll. It is so dope. Go in this direction and youll have kick ass box.

Anyone that has been collecting for long enough, and has a substantial collection has been through this already, and almost certainly more than once. Disappointment is practically the name of the game. This experience is not nearly the worse we've seen, in fact it's all too common.

So all I'm saying is it's one sale among many in most folks collecting experience. Get back up, get a partial from the seller, move on and enjoy the boombox. Don't look back. No need to turn things negative. Negative threads/posts turns a forum negative. Positive threads/posts results in a positive forum. Excuse the french but we don't need negative SHlT around here. Post the negative hate crap in other forums, not here. Please.

While Andy might be getting a little carried away, his opinion that this Ebay seller is a jerk is shared by me. it's amazing how many people do not know how to write, or choose their words carefully, when they create an auction. Either that, or they KNOW how to write, and are being deliberately dishonest.

I've come to the conclusion that most of the time, when a collector sells a boombox, it's because it has a flaw they don't like, and they want to dump it onto someone else. Only a minority of boomboxes are sold because the seller needs more money or space. Of course, they always act like that's the reason.

in many cases although there are exceptions. I know I've lost money on some boxes I've passed on simply because I wouldn't feel right If I didn't divulge everything, I've always tried to be completely honest which almost always means lower selling prices.

Hi All

I'm pretty new to this site, but i would like to counter some of the negative vibes coming Andy's way. The description of that box as compared to its actual condition is unforgiveable. I trade a fair bit on ebay, and i always describe every flaw, and generally talk down whatever i'm selling to avoid disappointment for the buyer.
I have bought plenty of records in apparent excellent condition that to me are unplayable. Because i can't be arsed complaining, i simply toss em in the bin and vow never to make the same mistake again (i wish that were true).

The price here is irrelevant. If you buy someting in the supposed condition it is described in, you expect it to at least come close to that condition. Some of us don't like the things we collect to be in substandard condition, and would rather not have it all than put up with a poor one. The VZ I bought on ebay was pretty accurately described, so i knew i had a restoration job on my hands. But i went into that deal with my eyes wide open, so no problem there.

So, i can understand where Andy is coming from. I would have hated to have paid for this box to be shipped to Australia, only to to be so bitterly disappointed!!!!!

All that being said, i would take the partial refund and put the box back on ebay with an accurate description as to its condition. If someone else wants it in that condition, then great. That way, you shouldn't be burned financially at least.

Well, that's my 2 cents worth. I love this site, and will hopefully be posting more positive stories about my VZ restoration shortly.

i cant believe some members here are willing to turn a blind eye or sugar coat how one of our members has been Really stuffed around.
Thats seems a far worse issue for this forum than anything ive said. If a friend of mine sold something in this way i would let him have it just the same.

so who is the member who sold this box? If he wants to put his side to the story up, and its remotely plausible i will happliy appologise for calling him/her an arsehole.

I think we should drop this and let the buyer decide what he wants to do.
In the end, our opinions mean nothing. He asked for our opinions...he got them...im sure he can make an informed decision.

The seller answered that he figures that his pictures do show the condition of the box they just need to be enlarged. The crack in the battery door can not be seen as it's not in the picture, and all the scratches are very difficult to detect.

Fact is sound is not perfect either which is rather difficult to detect in the pictures!

Anyway he said he could give me 43 euros back but I'm going to ask for 63. That way I will have paid almost 100 euros for the box with shipping. I think that maybe that is about what it is worth, even if I would not have chosen to buy it for even that knowing the shape...

so he's saying the flaws can be seen in the pics, LOL - what was his explaination of the words he used to describe it?

At the very least, people need better selling skills. I mean, his pics were tiny. Don't people understand that if they upload 6 or more photos, the economical way to do it is to select Supersize? You get 6 Supersize photos for 75 cents, or 12 for only $1.

If you do NOT select Supersize, you pay the same 75 cents for 6 photos, and a whopping $1.65 for 12 because you don't get the discount. So selecting Supersize actually SAVES you money if you upload 12.

It's been that way for YEARS.
