I understand that you expected a "mint" box and were surely disappointed to not get what you expected...
But I agree with norm...
I would gladly pay what you paid to get that box.

so since he is a member on here, he will do the right thing & pay for return shipping & a full refund

thats what he should do in my opinion.

You must not be a seller. .
your right, i am definately not a seller, trader or ever worked in the retail industry.

i think this seller has been downright deceptive & misleading - "pristine, dream state, no flaw to be found, like new"

he provided good closeup images of everything except its major flaws.... :hmmm:

just because this buyer got it 'cheap', doesnt change a thing - what if he had paid top dollar because of the way the seller described it

So Andy, your personal feelings aside, how exactly does YOUR result benefit anyone at all? Does returning it make it all better?

If the seller pays return postage, gives a full refund and all its cost me was the postage to get it sent to me in the first place, i would be happy with that.

The seller can then readvertise with a proper description and i can put my refund towards a box that i am really happy with.

Everyone will be happy and the seller will learn to give proper description next time..
cheers

Well I think it all boils down to that you want to teach the seller a lesson. This isn't about you though....

of course its not about me, you asked for my opinion so im letting you have it.

also its not all about teaching the seller a lesson, its about supporting the buyer who I think has been deceived & let down.

I would at least seek a partial refund as the condition is not as stated...also anybody notice that handle?? That is not an original 950 handle....unless the Euro model is special in that way.
But it's a cool handle non he less

I can understand when you want a minty, NIB, or any other near perfect box then nothing else will do. If space is a limiting factor which it is for most of us then you want the perfect box not several examples. Pretty much the same goes for money, if you only have X number of dollars to spend on one box I can understand how and why you wouldn't want to keep this box. It's not a horrible box but it's also not up to the standards that were being sought when it was purchased.

All that being said it's solely up to the buyer to decide if this box works for him and it should be easy to understand either decision.

I don't think you have the same market in the US for Crowns... For around 100 euro these go quite often in top condition. Since this was a seller that sells quite a bit and I trusted he could ship a MINT box, and I'd seen him linked here on the forum, i paid 123 euro. Historically (looking back a month or so) it is high even if it would have been in great condition with an original handle. The seller answered that he figures that his pictures do show the condition of the box they just need to be enlarged. The crack in the battery door can not be seen as it's not in the picture, and all the scratches are very difficult to detect. Fact is sound is not perfect either which is rather difficult to detect in the pictures!

Anyway he said he could give me 43 euros back but I'm going to ask for 63. That way I will have paid almost 100 euros for the box with shipping. I think that maybe that is about what it is worth, even if I would not have chosen to buy it for even that knowing the shape...

Man these crowns just don't hold up very well. they all seem to have the same wear marks and such...what a shame such a beautiful design.

i would far from call that mint!mint implies no marks, scratches, knocks bangs cracks etc-your crown is a nice model, but its condition is more like average-but be proud with yourself-thats a lovely piece regardless of the condition

Definitely not "mint", but still a decent box. I personally like a little "used" character. These boxes are harder to find in the U.S. ( I finally got one after looking for four months). I don't think anything is "mint" unless it comes in the unopened, original packaging i.e. similar collectible coin collecting - uncirculated condition. It's the same as buying a new car - if it has been used, it is not "mint" and devalues as soon as you drive it off the lot. Sellers shouldn't use the word "mint" so freely. I would keep the box myself, and take the partial refund. They are great sounding boxes.

lets not just focus on the word 'mint'.

look at all the other words used for the description "pristine, dream state, no flaw to be found, like new"

anyway, not much more to be said unless the seller wants to clarify things & make himself known

the seller sounds like an arsehole.

please mate dont spread so much hate around here, sadly enough that something like this happes between users here :sadno:

My sentiments exactly. Andy seems to carry on like he has a personal vendetta against this guy. I think Andy is trying to start a "occupy boomboxery campain". I've no idea who this seller is, but I do like to look at things from both sides. Regardless, these hate posts always seems to end ugly.
