When I first got into collecting and searching for radio's the Sanyo M7850K caught my eye. The first time I saw it, I thought it was a miniature Lasonic TRC-920. If you look closely, you will see it has many of the same features.

I searched high and low over the years. I bid on a few on eBay and some have gone for crazy money. But never got my hands on one :-/

This radio came from our great member K2J who generously hooked me up! I don't know if he is a mind reader or what, but I was so excited when he offered this to me.

Thank you so much Brent, really means a lot. Of course, she will get the full treatment because...THAT'S WHAT WE DO :-D

Notice the similarities...
Function and Radio band switches are in the same location and are smaller versions of the same knobs. The cassette deck door plexi uses same screws, woofer grills and surrounds, condenser mic grills, same shape & location, dual antenna with the same antenna clips, tiny versions of the volume, bass and treble knobs, has full volume activated VU meter, similar hand and handle ends. Little red stripe on the volume knob. Same "Auto Stop" arrow on the deck door.

I find it very interesting that these two are so close yet made by different company's.

Very cool.

Next year, I will be rockin' this box at the Relay For Life Cancer Walk! Thanks again Brent.

I've thought the same thing. It's a perfect "mini-me." I wonder what years that sanyo was made compared to the 920?

Awesome! Congrats!

I thought the same that it's a mini Lasonic 920 tho it also looks like the Sanyo 920.

I like them so much I have two :-)

Lasonic did the copying!! They may look similar but there are zero similarities when you open them up!!

How do you find the sound Chris??

Congrats

James.... :-)

I never put the 2 together, but you are right - that Sanyo is like a mini Lasonic!

The similarities are quite stunning. Glad you like it man, just couldn't bear to see you lug around those huge boxes last time. Hopefully this will allow you to keep your street cred but take at least a few laps with a lighter load!!

Thanks guys, I too was wondering who built theirs first. Did Lasonic copy this? It's just to close to be an accident.

The sound quality it really hood. More bass that you would think.from 2.5/3 inch speaker's. Also has music search and Metal features on the deck.

It's mini sized, but not a common mini style.

Thanks again Brent. I usually try to bring a "Smaller" radio to the Relay for Life cancer walk. Last year I only brought huge radios and hurt my back lol. Next year, the M6850K will make an appearance!

Nice one! They are both good looking and deserve to be seen together, they could even be ice=breaking conversation starters!

i dont think lasonic copied any model , if anything its the other way around . believe it or not my first trc 920 had a code date of 1979 on it . not sure if they actually made the 920 that early but i was suprized to see that.

I was under impression that the 920 was only made in 83-84, but I could be wrong
