WHY?????

"Whenever he appeared, Racer X was usually behind the wheel of the Shooting Star, a sleek two-seater of improbable design that was as powerful as the Mach 5. It came with the assortment of weapons and devices one would expect in a secret agent’s ride, including an oil slick in the cartoon, and, in the movie, four heavy caliber machine guns. And while they were never directly seen, it was apparent Number 9 had booster jacks similar to the Mach 5.
.....
Racer X is a heroic, mysterious, flamboyant, selfless, sympathetic and often brooding soldier of fortune. His true identity is Rex Racer (三船 研一 Mifune Ken'ichi?), the eldest son of Mom and Pops Racer and the older brother of Speed and Spritle. Years before the start of the series, Rex had a falling out with Pops after wrecking the Mach One (the first car Pops ever built) at the end of his first race as a professional driver (seen in flashbacks throughout the series). Racer X drives the number 9 car, the Shooting Star. "

That's Why!

And if that goes well.....

I wanna turn this car....

....into....

The MACH 4 ! ! !

Look at them....they're practically begging for it... :-P

NOW.....Once all these stages have been completed....I will begin the long and arduous task of petitioning Parliament (The Wife) for the REAL MACH 5 :hooray:

....on grounds that ! ! ! ! !....

...."We Must Complete The Set!"

So that's my Plan... :-D

I was a HUGE Speed Racer fan as a kid....I was really bummed when those two idiot movie producers BUTCHERED the concept with their crappy movie

Hahaha, very awesome! I say do it, you only live once!
YOLO for Speed Racer!

That real Mach 5 sold a few years ago for a mere $100,000. I know it cost more than that to build.
