Found at estate sale, any good?

So I was at an estate sale and I knew the people running it. They were kind of joking about taking everything to the dump and asked me if I wanted a boombox. I agreed and took this sucker home, thing weighs about 50 pounds. Is it any good? Condition, quality wise?

Oh well, I guess I'll throw some rechargeable D's in it and use it at the beach. Goes loud as hell.

you know nothing of this deck and its problems and as such it looses bucks there
it sounds good so the deck works
if you want big bucks put it on ebay and you will see what its worth
but yea i would recommend using it well at the beach sounds good

Haven't googled **** mate..? Sorry to bother the good people of boomboxery. As with turntables I usually go to forums because the information is more responsive and dynamic.

Damn man, lot of salt in one place. Didn't have any clue what it was, didn't have the model number on me, googled boombox and got this forum and figured I could get some info on it. Don't know how many times I'm going to have to say it, thanks for the info. The post clearly states what I'm asking and you've provided the answer a couple of times. I collect vinyl so this isn't my forte. You don't have to act like I've got some hidden motive. I'm just some noob wondering what I have. Cheers again, have a good day/night.

I would imagine that he was just asking for specifics regarding your "is it good" question (e.g. is the radio good; is the tape deck good; is the FM reception good; etc.). To give a general answer to your "is it good" question - yes, it is considered by many collectors to be the best ever made by JVC, and it usually commands a fair price simply because so many collectors want one.

Didn't have the model number? It's right on the back, lol.
Plus, googling that model would have told you what a great radio it is, with a lot less effort than the time you took to register on this site and answer the security questions. So, that is what makes us suspicious. But if you just want to share, that's cool..... we're just a bit jaded because we've had a lot of people acting like they want help but then 2 weeks later they put it up for sale.

Nevertheless, that JVC is such a nice thing. I never had an opportunity to see one live, but they are almost iconic.
