Mamoushi, you have there what looks to be a very good condition JVC M90, one of the most sought after boomboxes from any marque. Yours looks absolutely stunning, I started drooling the instant i saw it. Sounds like you got super lucky well done

Amazing that the auctioneers would just give this away!!

Especially in that condition!

Lucky you! :-) :hmmm:

Great find. I hope you are really here to find out more about the group and blasters. Your's doesn't even seem to have a spec of dust on it. Hard to believe someone at an estate sale would give this away, even if you knew them.

Two things I noticed were that the VU meters do not appear to have yellow or red on the positive end (odd) and the speakers look like they're washed out and faded from sun exposure. Can't see if it has the original antennas or if they're even present. It may not have the battery cover and/or has possible battery leakage/damage and most likely the cassette deck isn't working either which lowers the value as well.

Lots of unknowns. However, most places will research items. With the internet being an ever growing place of research I can understand how a lot of you feel. Even still, you can't rule out the possibility that someone can hit the lotto every now and then at the expense and/or lack of research by the giver.

Here is a challenge for a few of you. Pull out your M90 and review a few passing strangers of both sexes. Ask them. Without researching the model, how much would you sell this for at a yard sale? See what they tell you. Heck I had my M90 out at my wife's (extended) families house with folks I didn't know. I got a lot of "Wow, I haven't seen one of those in a while" comments but when I questioned one on what they thought it might be worth I got a response of "50 dollars?"

So you see it is possible with no research and those who are not in the game are truly clueless. We think it's ignorant not to research a boombox's value because we all know these things and it would be naive not to......I agree. But until you grasp the mindset of those who do not care about these like we do, nothing is impossible I suppose.

OK I blasted him
Came home late and was looking for fun
first no photo then the photo
OMG like its and they were throwing it away :bang:
its every ones dream the M90 no one wants
And as an OZY living in Japan it could be lost in translation
Yes most people dont know the value of a boombox i agree
But for one he is a record collector so has a good idea its worth something
He is not just some guy who listens to mp3s and thinks all analog is junk
God its on a record cover

the other thing that got me was that the estate was going to throw it out so i took it home
Like these guys its their job to what just put the model name in finished auctions on ebay and POW
But I want to put an open hand to our new member
and would be great to hear how its all going
hasn't been here since that first day all that work to sign up
oops or did I just give him everything he needed the model number which as was mentioned
was on the back
But would love to see you back and to hear how it is going
really would love to get my trust in human nature

Im not saying there are not wild finds to be found just feel that this guy was not really as into it as we are
He was fishing and then many members spent time to give him advice he has never read
It happens all the time but hopefully something good came from it
