I Just went to Yahoo auctions Japan and I almost felt sick looking at the Sharp Gf-999 they had for 40.00USD or 3,000 yen and then realizing I have no way of buying it because I know no one in japan and it would be almost another $250.00USD in shipping

Indeeed....
I saw a gold M-70 go for $20 before I could get anything off yahoo.jp.

But I made up for it with about 15 others once I got my mate who lived over there organised!!

.. I miss him being there.. but there's always hope he'll go back one day.

Rock On.

But ya gotta admit for $290 your still ahead of the game!! There's a guy here in NY that wants $700 for his 999!! I think it's a steal for less than $300!! Shoot order 2 and I'll go half with you!! I paid $349 for my GF-777z new in the box and that was shipped free! PM me if interested.

isn't that what Jauce is for?

The problem you will have is that they will only accept J-cards.
Then you have the language barrier. Then you have the poxy packing factor (Japanese freight companies tend to look after good so packing in not such a big issue). Japan post will not allow fragile stickers on O/S items!!?
My only problem is my wife cracked it and hid her J-card.
Even my M70 has to wait for me to go over and fetch it!
I will be over there later this year and will devote 1 day to sending boxes to select BBXY memebers.
I remember few locations with 100's of old boomers!

Yes they offer worldwide shipping, yes they can repack the box before shipping, yes they accept PayPal. The translate button offers 3 options for English. I surfed the auctions for months learning how the Japanese/English stuff works.

It's a no brainer.

I'm really considering going this route for one of the Sharp GF-7** models! Can anyone else give some feedback on how Jauce worked out for them? I'm curious what the ballpark shipping cost would be to California from Japan? They said on the site that it's 250 yen per kilogram but I'm not sure how much that would work out to on a "grail" sized boomer....

Thats the same info I'd like to know. If somebody has a positive feedback ill do it as well. It's not like where buying from xiosann or something. He's good with his packaging and all that. He's trustworthy. These other people are random folks we don't know. :hmmm:

This thread is where you need to go: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5810&hilit=+Japan+Auction

My experience with Jauce has been nothing but positive.

Iv had a reasonable experience with jauce.....thats where my gf1000 came from....the actual box only cosr 210 uk pounds after the conversion from yen....then another 340 uk pounds in total for everything else added up.....import duty, repacking at jauce wharehouse, paypal funds commission, local shipping within japan, jauce fees, etc etc...

Still, if your serious about a big grail, its a good route to go down......

Beware though, big sharps nearly always end up with a crack down the side of the rear case....iv had 3 cracked even though
It has been packed really well....

3 cracked  that's what I'm worried about. I'm a serious buyer and if I can't fight it then I'm stuck with it broken? Did you get a partial refund or anything from them in those regards? Do you have anybody in particular to deal with who'd be worried about tarnishing they're reputation? I'd rather deal with a reputable person than a nobody looking to score big bucks from me. A 1000 would be sweet in my stable!
