A lot of these have probably been sitting around in a warehouse for up to a year before being sold. Then there's the battery itself, who knows how old it is? Plus they might have used multiple suppliers.

This 5ah battery is kicking butt and taking names. Been at it all evening using my tablet to play songs off youtube, piping them through the DJT adjusting the volume to perfection and recording kickass recordings of modern songs onto SD.

I feel like a kid again. It is the closest I have felt to a modern box feeling like an old school blaster with a cassette deck. Been FOREVER since I could record off the radio also. MAN......I'm gonna have a BEER!

I am sometimes a tough cretic when it comes to evaluating boxes. This one (while recharging is still under investigation) gets a HUGE thumbs up. It's very practical. I Love it!

Do the recordings actually sound good? The manual says it only records in 128 kbps, which is usable but not great.

It "works." It's 128 kbps but at only 32kHz instead of 44, so the max frequency is 16kHz.

Transistorized, I measured 13.27V on a fully charged battery, detached from the internals.

Hey Reli. I placed two MP3 recordings I made off of YouTube. Let me know what you think. They're in the Music section

Thanks caution. I have retired mine for the evening. Is blinking so I'm going to leave it all night and see where it stands in the morning. So far today it charges to where the top green light comes on but flickers right off the bat when the volume gets up above 25%.

I notice that the bass and treble knobs actually influence recordings. Unlike on vintage boxes.

I'm glad my recommended battery upgrade is catching on. Love my DJ Tech. It gets lots of play in my boomroom. It is my go-to travel radio as well. Great sound, long battery life, and great portability make this box a huge winner.

Yes. A HUGE thumbs up. Replacing the battery is the best thing anyone could ever do. Bypassing the internal charging circuitry is the second best thing. Now I can enjoy this thing :-)

Just wanted to provide an update on this. I determined my internal charging circuit isn't up to par. It only gets the battery to 12.4Volts so I bypassed it and charge my battery with an aftermarket SLA charger that is a smart charger. It charges in 3 steps and has a light on the unit that goes from Red to Green once the battery is charged. It keeps the battery at 13.91 while in maintenance mode. Off the charger for a few hours the battery settles to 13.47 or so.

HUGE difference. 4 hours of play time before the first light drops off. Before (with the built in charger) the top light never lit. If it did it went out as soon as ANY music was played.

Now, (at a sensible volume) I can get 12 to 14 hours of total run time. I usually don't run it down that low though. After the first light goes off and stays out it goes back on the charger.

After all this work and the initial purchase price, I expect this thing to provide me with years of enjoyment :-)

Good read guys. I hope I bag one of these before they are extinct.
Sup Joe! I would to have liked to grab a black one, but I got red mainly because I didnt have a red boombox of any kind. I love mine. And with the battery upgrade, its even better.

I talked to DJ Tech and they said this was a one time limited run of boomboxes and they have no plans to make any more in the future.
