Here is some more bad pictures of it.

I think it looks much nicer than the ones (TEC RR 878 or ICS STR-5092) that have "Super Woofer" text on the grilles and much more colors.

Tried to google str-5099 but didn't find much.

What do you think?

:-D :-D I like it better than the others too although some of them are classic & i like the less gaudy ones too. The vertical tuning wheel & the vents below the woofers really make it stand out from the rest. Nice!! :-O

Crossing my fingers, hoping the sound is worth the looks. I've heard that some of these are quite nice and bassy. This one should be 66 x 43 x 17 cm. Very tall machine...

That Trident looks like serious business, not just for the looks. :sin:

As a size comparison to my M70, here's how big it is:

Sadly, it really doesn't sound great. Hopefully yours is way better.

One thing that I don't know, is that will the leds work as VU-meters or just for light effects. I expect its the latter, but hope for the other. Does that Trident pack 20cm speakers? I think the Super Jumbo has just 16 cm or so.

This is the actual box I won. Decks are playing but sound is dull, radio works but antenna is missing. Though it shouldn't have much marks on it. I got this for 115€, maybe too much, who knows.

3. Still need more :angelic:

I'm not sure how big the speakers are, but yours and mine look identical size wise. Most of my boomboxes can run circles around it. That little black Panny in the upper left hand corner of the photo is a dark horse. It sounds GREAT for what it is.

Even it stomps all over the trident sound-wise.

I really need a M90.

Sorry, those are no VU´s :sadno:
The LEDs are blinking all together at the sound peaks.
There has also exist a cheaper version of this box without LED.
I have the same one, labeled as TEC and LEVIS
It is a cheapo box , but loud.

btw: will you get the box shipped? :hmmm:
Hope it comes in good condition, the speaker mountings are very weak. I got one smashed... :'-(

Yes, from Germany. Like all my boxes except the GF-700. I asked him to use 2 cardboard boxes, one in another. Haven't got an aswer yet.

I remember someone had a box like this delivered "in pieces", transformer and speakers were ripped apart from the box.

Myself :'-(
And i guess for sure somebody else too.

The box was very well packed, but it arrived smashed.
The main problem is the weak trafo mounting and the long pins, where the speakers are mounted.
Well packing is quite worthless, because when the parcel get dropped hard, the kinetic energy of those heavy parts inside, destroys itself..... :-/
Wish you the best, you have a careful shipping company and it comes in good condition.
Expect not a high quality unit, but you can have much fun with it cruising around! :breakdance: ;-)

Thanks, thats the one I looked some time ago. Hmm, looks like it could -maybe- fit a pair of 8 inchers in there. :hmmm:

So it has separate 5 band EQ's and volume for each channel? I expect that the lowest frequency on the EQ is 100hz?

Yay, got the thing the other day fully intact. It has not much signs of wear either. Just very dirty. Cassettes seem to play but on the second time testing it sounded like some loose plastic or so had made its way to the mechanism and make a sound. Also it slowed the decks down  But this one sounds really clean. Bass is more punchy that I'd expect for a cheap box. It has only 5 band EQ, for cosmetic reasons it has dual sliders on every band... :annoyed: Maybe I'll do some tricks with this. The speakers are rated at 10W which sis kinda high, I think. Though with the 100Hz turned up it will distort kinda easily, sounds like speakers are maxed out, put it has plenty of power still.

Antenna was ripped apart and for some reason the jag that holds the antenna down was cut away?

I got myself a Sure 2x25W @ 6ohm Class-D amp (operates from 14-19V) and two 2x50W models (basically the same unit) are on their way.

Will do some serious power ups for my big but weak Palladium and maybe try one on the STR 5099A too. Will see.

I may try to seal the box as good as I can, it has about 25-28 liters of volume and the fake bass ports on the front just screams to be cut open. Did some measuring with a software and it looks like just punching through the "ports" would give the box a tuning frequency of about 65 or 80Hz, depending on software used. The volume should be really fine for a serious bass output with exchanged speakers. I bought 2 pairs of some spare Heco ones with alu-look cones. May try them out.
