Yeah, looking forward to my Silver FE!
I was tempted with the Backtrack a while back, what are your thoughts on it?
It is my favorite modern boombox (with cassette). Quality is what you would expect from a China made radio and available cassette transport, but it scratches that itch of opening a new radio in the 80's and the sound is on par with an old school blaster. It does not take a new battery pack like modern equipment. They kept the D battery compartment. That is a plus or a minus depending on who you talk to. On the plus side, if you are out and need batteries, you can swap them out at a gas station and keep going or get 10,000mAh D NiMh Rechargeable batteries that will run it for 8 to 12 hours depending on volume, etc..
I did have to dial in the cassette speed and I wish they had auto stop on rewind and FF but aside from that, the sound is great and everything works as you would expect. Knobs feel high quality and do not wobble. Tuner is strong on FM.
Overall, it's currently my go to when I want to preserve my vintage gear. I do think that the BB-777 may be my go to once I get it. We'll see.

On the plus side, the aiwa (China ) boombox is only $260 or so new and you can play just about every usable portable format available.
