Another new toy!

Picked this 1981 Trans Am up about a month ago fairly cheap. It has 82,000 original miles garage kept and never saw snow. Solid with no bondo or rust. Had some work done at my mechanics shop and I just thought I'd show the progress. The car came with turbo wheels and originally rally's. I had Rally's painted and sold turbo wheels but I just wasn't satisfied until now. Got some Crager SS wheels and traction bars and I just love it. I had carb rebuilt, New AC compressor and other AC parts put on to get AC fully restored. Had original exhaust tips installed and converter bypassed. Front nose was repainted and a few other odd and end interior parts replaced. Engine and trans are stock original 301/350. It's not very fast but still looks the part. Interior is in super clean shape too. I'm very happy with how it turned out and the first car show it will be in is May 3rd at the RT66 Red Carpet Corrridor.

Me too I've been wanting one since seeing Smokey and the Bandit at drive in in 70's could never really afford one.

Nice one Bill,

You've done the right thing IMHO in getting the AC working properly with new parts and not just a re-gas. With that engine/gearbox combo, your Transam is a cruiser so having working air conditioning is essential.

I get the last part today from UPS for the AC which is the air duct housing so by tonight she will be fully ready

No in Illinois there are 2 types of antique plates. One is all year around but you can only drive on Sundays/holidays and for shows. The other can be driven most of spring, summer and part of fall anytime. It's good since car won't really need to be driven in winter anyway and plates are much cheaper

It looks so much nicer with the Cragar S/S mags! I had the Cragar's on my first car when i was 18 and i loved them
