I asked Mrs. Blu about a year ago if we should take a vacation to Florida or start/finish a MAJOR remodel of our house on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Wisely we decided to remodel the house
. Figured we will have some kids on the way soon and this would be our only chance to get this done.
Remodeled and added a total of 1,200 sq ft to the 2nd and 3rd floor. House is still a 3 bedroom but about 2,200 sq ft now above ground.
So basically without telling an entire novels worth of details, we did:
-remodeled main bathroom
-installed 12+ solid core prehung six panel oak doors (old original doors were not 6'8" height so I had to re-frame all new door openings
.
-turned 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor into 2 bedrooms
-built new staircase from 2nd to 3rd floor (previously had pulldown stairs)
-new electrical sub panel in 3rd floor to power all of 2nd and 3rd floor
-gutted plaster
-insulated
bla bla bla
I'm going to try to post these like before-and-after right next to eachother.......
Bathroom before:
Bathroom after:
Changing two bedrooms into one, making 2 walk in closets, and building a staircase:
Before and during rennovations:
After pics (don't mind the paint overlap lines on the ceiling - I only did one coat of paint after primer in that room because I was rushing for Christmas):
OK, now onto the 3rd floor. About 500 sq ft, 1/2 bath (not finished, no pics of that), framed, insulated, electrical, drywall, bla bla:
Before and during:
3rd floor as it sits right now:
We had to stop working on the 3rd floor because our baby was on the way.... I was running out of time to start and finish gutting the 2nd floor 2nd bedroom..... yikes:
Before and during:
After:
And the 2nd floor landing and misc:
