Hi,been working on cleaning up an Aiwa 770 and like my 660 they're
somewhat difficult to work on!

The wiring to the cassette is hard wired and half
the center section.
Also you have fragile meters, tuner indicator
and not enough room to put things into position
to work on like cassette.
I dud get rid of all the dreaded goo on all shafts
pulley wheels and ect!! Hate that crap!!!!

But the deck motor was running as it was in
play mode.
Just need to lube it and install new belts.
Just sayin these aren't the easiest.
The 660 I think is harder.
Love the sound on these!! :surf:
So I guess it's worth the extra labor! :-)
Photos as soon as possible-sorry again.
But this thing is a pain.
Not like the Sharps,JVC's and others.
Now for an 880! :-O :-)

Hi guys,I guess I'm not experienced enough with
the Aiwa design.
I'm making a small lower table workstation
when I re-belt the deck.

I'll get used to it but it's just not as easy as others.

I only have 3 Aiwas but would love the 880.

Scott,I have something for you real soon, not an
Aiwa but $ and a surprise box!!
I may leave it with Bill!

I'm going to be real happy when the deck is
going again.
Have a good one! :-)

It's ironic that the 880, which is the highest end Aiwa also has by FAR the easiest of all the Aiwa decks to work on.

All the other ones I've worked on are of an intrinsically diabolical design.

Rock On.

Most all Aiwa's with the full logic deck use a similar deck mechanism, the MD-3.
It is used in numerous Aiwa models including the CS250,CS360,CS600,CS660,CS770 and CS880.
They just use different buttons, motor mounts and record bar mechanisms.
Except the CS770 and CS880,they use the same identical deck......

Thanks Glue for that response!!

That basically sums it up.
Just tricky to move around just right to get at it and then when I
get at it on my little work station I'll be able to lube and belt this thing
should be able to!

I don't want to totally dismantle this thing yet, just clean and get deck
ready for belts.
Sounds good, just can't wait to put it through the paces!
Glad this has the same deck as the 880.
Came so close to getting one twice! :-/
But no more of these darn things for a while-to many things going
on.
Love the meters on this, just like the 880's I believe.
Have a good one and thanks for the info Rick and Scott! :-)

Let us know when you're done with that one, Ghettoboom767, because I'll be sending over four Aiwas that you can belt for me.

I'll let you know,but I have a feeling it's not going to
be real fun! :-O
I'm still learning as like I say I only have 2-3 old Aiwas
and a early to mid 90's unit with funny speakers
on top-4 speaker and CD.
Love the Sharps,JVC's,Sony's but Aiwas
and Sanyos!!
