Can anybody tell me about the Aiwa cs-j88, does anybody own one? :hmmm: , is it the same as the Aiwa cs-880 model? How about the Radio frequency range/ Voltage, is it compatable with UK specs? Also can anyone provide specs owner manual/service manual etc.

Hi The CS-J88 is similar to the CS-880.

But the CS-J88 has Mic mixing capability but it's a Japanese domestic model so the tuner only goes to 92 mhz and it is a 100 volt ac only model.

Hope this helps.
I think member Moncheto has a CS-J88.........

I'm just finishing up the restoration of my CS-J88. As Skippy said, it is the Japanese domestic market version of the CS-880 so the units are very similar, with the main differences being the FM tuner (it only goes to 90.0 Mhz, not 92.0 as Skippy said) and the voltage (100V).

I'm in the U.S. so I the 100V AC of the CS-J88 is not a problem for me; I can just plug the AC cord straight into the mains. However, it does have an input for a DC connector, so in the U.K. you should be able to use a simple DC power transformer (like this: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/PlugIn-Charger-11Y707)

If you're thinking about buying one, don't hesitate. The sound is amazing, the build quality is outstanding and the looks are classic. But one common problem with these units is dried out speaker foams, so check that the speakers are in good condition or be prepared to repair them.
