I started working on this radio on Monday, was driving around with my brother, looking for a motorcycle shop, saw a house with the front yard full of junk. Saw a table with some busted up electronics on it including this Sanyo C44.
Although I could have easily just ripped it off as it was 5 feet from the sidewalk, I went and knocked on the door. No answer

Came back that evening, woman answered the door, spoke very little English, but we each relayed enough info for me to learn it was her husbands and he wasn't home.
Went back on Tuesday, saw another truck out front. Knocked on the door, she answered, said he was taking a siesta. I left my number.
I returned Wednesday, no answer
I returned Thursday TWICE, no answer
I returned Friday, no answer
I returned TODAY, Saturday, no answer

As I was walking away, my brother yells out "THERE IS SOMEONE MOVING AROUND IN THERE!"
I went back to the door with a solid knock and a rather hard looking dude answered the door with a piece of chicken in his hand, chewing like a cement mixer and yelled out "WHAT!!!" :annoyed:

I said, "I was wondering if you are interested in parting with that radio out front?"
He said "It's my dads"
I said, "I will give you $10!"
He said "Sure take it" with a smirk.
I forked over $10, and rocked with the box. I have a feeling he's not giving his dad the money and will probably tell him some white boys ripped it off!

There was this little Sony there too, but I didn't grab it.

It was wired up to a total of 6 speakers on the table. The face was marked with a grease pen, with a check mark on the tuner window, a check on one deck and an X on the other deck. This told me it came from a thrift store and that the tuner and one deck worked. AND since he had it wired up to 6 speakers it was working.
I pulled all the wiring apart, grabbed a loose antenna laying on the table and was gone.
Brought it home and a quick inspection showed it does work as I thought. It's missing one EQ slider, and I found that it needs one belt to make it work, but will probably do a full re-belting.

Along with the spectrum analyzer, it has a 5 band EQ, Dolby, 1 reversible deck and high speed dubbing. Works on AC/DC and is a total BEAST with batteries in it.
This thing POUNDS HARD and at 26 inches long it's not small OR light! It takes 10 D cells and was built in 1987.

It needs some lovin' though as the top and sides have a lot of wear and tear. The face needs more cleaning and it really needs the full tear down, re-belting and....well...you know what we do
That spectrum analyzer is hypnotizing
