This guy repairs LCD TV's. He is kind of my shango066 but for modern stuff. In this video, he shows a repair using a simple yellow envelope slip. Oh how I wish it could always be this simple. I have an LG tv. If it ever does this, maybe I might get lucky. I will file this video away in my memory banks. :-)

This is why I keep my older 90's car. I have a 2013 FoST which has all of the same systems as the videos below. I enjoy it but I know it is not going to be around as long as the older stuff.

If you watch these videos, relate this to our vintage boomboxes. Older radios that do not have all specialized surface mount IC components that won't be able to be repaired once the IC is no longer available. Will that change the landscape and mindset of what is valuable in the not so distant future?

If you do watch these, I am curious what your thoughts are on every aspect of what this means. Not just for automobiles, but for our boombox hobby.

It's what happens to every generation . the world we know is gone and the new world is here to stay . it's a sad fact of life . they don't give a fark. It's all about money . they want you to buy something new because that generates sales and keeps you spending money on repairs. I miss my old 1967 mustang with the inline 6 cylinder motor it was bullet proof and as dirt simple as they come to work on.

The control module may not be broken. It may be programmed to stop the power supply to the bulb.
Dealer asks 500 Dollars to reset the contole module so the bulb burns again . Not bad for 5 minutes work hmmm
Pure theft as most car owners don't have a clue of these systems

The world is rotten . It's pure crime to program s**t to break down

My BMW battery was weak and needed a new one. Dealer asked me $900 for the battery and the "programming". If you install a new battery without programming it will overcharge the battery or kill the alternator. Over the years I was always ripped off by the dealer for every little thing that went wrong with the car. So, I found a local workshop that worked on import cars. I bought the original BMW battery and installed it, and this local guy programmed it for $50. The total money I spend was less than half the dealer asked for.

This is true. The level of unnecessary complexity is head shaking. Another thing about modern start stop cars is that they use a deep cycle battery rather than a normal lead acid battery. And of course they cost twice as much. My wife's Toyota battery was $400.00 because of the start stop...which I turn off EVERYTIME I get in and drive.

Speaking of start-stop. The cars computer keeps track of the duty cycle of the starter. After a pre-programmed amount of starts, it throws the CEL and a code for starter replacement. Heck I was looking at my coffee makers computer using a secret series of button pressed at the same time and it keeps track of how many times the relay to heat the water, what type of coffee pods were used, over pressure events, time plugged in...etc. Silly.

I have a few of those and gas engine airplanes also.
Was into drones and now back to playing with tube radios, auto tuning tube radios, boomboxes, receivers, turntables, reel to reel, cassette tape decks, and also big speakers and subwoofers.

i have my own YouTube, but it's only a tiny channel with last time i looked 790 subs, i only uploaded small videos of my Boomboxes, and a couple of HiFi Videos, i'm never going to be a Big YouTuber, i just upload something every now and then just to keep my channel alive, i used to get ok views but it's pretty much dead now. anyhow, i usually watch car videos, Like SimonFordman, BudgetBuildz And sometimes watch boombox repair videos when i'm stuck fixing something. but i'm getting older and quite sick now, so i've backed away from radios pretty much now. i never really speak much at all about radios anymore, i think they will soon be sold off. i might keep a handful, but most will probably go. because anything happens to me, my kids will be left with a lot of junk and i can't have that.

@Ghettoman I am sorry to hear of your declining health. Here lately, I have been having dumb stuff happen to me. I blew out my left eardrum a while back when blowing my nose. The dumbest thing I ever heard of. Previously this year, I had surgery for a 12mm kidney stone. Now I have injured my esophagus somehow. I swallowed something not chewed well enough accidentally. It went down but ever since, it feels like someone is pressing with their thumb at the base of my throat. Been a week now and it still feels like something is stuck in my throat off and on. Usually in the morning when I get up. It's getting better slowly but I feel so fragile as I have aged.

Hoping that this new year treats everyone better because this year wasn't a good year for me health wise.
