Shout out to Frank a.k.a. Hemiguy for that reverse the handle tip!!

What the hell were TDK thinking?!? :dunce:

Wha whoa, turn the handle around?!?! When did Hemiguy say that, and does it feel easier to carry like that?

Frank asked me to come up with a strap to replace the handle on this beast because your arm stretches 1/2" every time you pick it up!

He said it here, 2nd page: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10692&hilit=tdk+boombox

Great advice!!

Oh yeah, there it is!

I'm going to have to do it now  .

Mono, I know you carry your boxes all over the place but would you want some kind of shoulder strap that bolts to the original spots of the handle to the case :hmmm: ?

Boomus Fidelis
Now that you guys mention that handle, is it some kind of foam-cushioned vinyl under it?

Mono,
Congrats on the three speaker.
We listen to the same types of music and I can agree with you
On every count ( About the TDK and the 931.)
I've had my TDK since they first came out ( a bit over a year If memory serves me)
I have had 0 problems with it and hope it lasts for as long as I live as I will never part with it.
Flipping the handle disperses the weight more evenly as it places your hand
In the center of the box , where it belongs.
I have only ever taken mine outside once or twice.
From what I remember it wasn't very efficient on the 12 d's nor was it very
Light, a heavily padded strap may be a better way to go if you are going to tote it around.
Mine sits on the nightstand almost permanently.
I love mine to bits and have no problem saying that sound wise the only vintage box i have heard
That comes close is the Telefunken studio.

For the most part, I like to keep my boxes as original as possible... I'd have to see the finished product tho.

Thanks man!!

Yeah, I was sleeping on it for a long time but eventually, the hype won out! Hahaha!

Yeah, the handle feels MUCH better! Looks better too!! Everything you said it is the truth!!

I guess the only bad thing about the handle is that you can't do what I'm doing in my avatar. Ha!

I thought I remember seeing a TDK strap for it

There's a strap for the 3-speaker box, an option?!

No, there is not a strap for the 3 speaker and the strap for the 2 speaker TDK is way too small to try and make work on the 3 speaker. :nonono:

I am thinking of 2 powder coated plates that bolt to the TDK case and use the original counter sunk handle bolts. Then the transition from the plates to the strap would be a slot on the top side of the plate probably 3-4" wide like the JVC clip ends I make. I don't want to use webbing material. I like the strength of leather but don't like the idea of how the leather looks or feels in colaboration with the design of the boombox itself. The brown leather strap just looks out of place..... so I am still throwing around ideas on the actual strap material.

I can get blank tan 3"x50" leather for $34.99 + shipping, so leather isn't a cheap material for this project :dunce:

I keep picturing this with a TDK 3 speaker boombox inbetween the people instead of the washing machine

James, I just don't know what to think....

I know that modern stereo equipment has come along way and that's cool and all...

BUT I'm not sure I could handle seeing you, the "Poster Boy" of "80's Blaster Cool" posing in Adidas, Gold Chain and TDK  :nonono: :-/

On another note, I was thinking back to something Hemiguy said in his video and I agree with him 100% should these hold up...

The TDK 3-speaker box IS a future grail.

Well MONO, the only reason i want to get this TDK now, is because of your thread here...also hemiguy's youtube & ohboy's vid and positive feedback they posted...curiosity got me now  . I did play with the TDK in the store when it came out...but i wasn't impressed, but then again, i didn't have a chance to really blast it, and i only played it on FM radio...i want to test it with my music & devices :-D

I'm looking forward to getting one...when i do (maybe tomorrow), i will try it against all of my heavy hitters in my collection and post my opinions on Boomboxery
