When they work, I'd tend to agree.

But after a recent experience, I'm leaning towards scratching this thing off my list. Much as I like it, it seems they might not be all that reliable and it appears to be a disposable product. One year warranty. After that, you are on your own. Unlike JVC or Sony, TDK has no parts division. The majority of the products they sell (accessories, storage media, headphones, etc) don't warrant contracting with lots of service centers. There probably is no service manual unlike the major electronics manufacturers who produces tech data for all of their products to service centers.

I might be wrong, but if I plunk down big money like that, I'd like to feel comfortable that I'd get more than 1 year service out of it, or at the minimum, that it can be serviced for a fee if it fails after 1 year. Right now, I don't have that confidence. This thing is all MPU controlled. Failure in that system renders it bricked.

So... who's gonna be the 1st to combine this TDK thing with a MAG D8443...? To create a Super80s Midsize box..? :hmmm: :ninja:

and, would the 8 D batteries be able to power it for more than 5 minutes..?

100% true as Norm said it.

I'm glad I have one and yes they can sound incredible (though I am more partial to the 2 speaker TDK based purely off the sound output), but you can't get the parts for these anywhere. I have fixed 2 of the TDK 2 speaker boxes and no one has parts for them.

So if you accidently whack the volume knob hard and throw off the reading of the digital potentiometer, you are screwed. You will have to try to install a seperate power switch and a seperate volume potentiometer and hope you can get it to work as it was before......

I used my 3 speaker on a stand a couple weekends ago outside and it did sound really nice. They just could have made it sound so much better is why I'm dissapointed :-/

Just got an email for a 3-year extended warranty for the box... Not my style 'cause they're mostly rip-offs but I guess that's an option.

I wish I bagged one when you did MONO - I still think they hawt

did you score it from Amazon?

Yeah, Amazon is the best place to get 'em from what I've seen!

If you haven't heard one, you absolutely MUST do so!!!

I was going thru the motions thinking that it's a great sounding box and all, and then a track came on with an 808 kick that SHOCKED the hell outta me!! The standard bearer for me when it comes to bass from classic boxes are the big Lasonic models... I used to say that if an M90 had Lasonic bass, it would be the perfect sounding 1-piece box... Even if that were possible, the TDK would wipe the floor with it!! This thing goes way deeper than any Lasonic!

GET YOURS NOW!!!!

It's funny you say that as I've never heard a Lasonic with better bass than most mid sized boxes.
However it shows just how much the TDK must thump. Gz on the purchase.

I love mine too

I hate to pull a Rimmer with what he used to always say about the M90, but honestly, the TDK is the kind of box that makes you NOT wanna listen to other boxes - M90 included!

I don't know what you've been listening to to draw that kind of conclusion... My TRC-931 had better bass than every box I own pre-TDK... My S90 comes very close tho!

The TDK is almost like a traditional home speaker with a handle and some extra fancy **** added to the front... Hahaha!!

Thanks man!

Seems everyone listens to different types of bass.......808 bass versus old-skool "tight" bass that doesn't go as low......And indoors versus outdoors........Makes it hard to really compare everyone's opinions
