I'm sure all the members here who have been paying attention have noticed that scores of celebrities and personalities have passed this year -- people who we didn't know personally, but who have through the screen, voice, or print touched us in may ways. People who we have come to know, love, hate whatever.

More deaths that I can ever remember. Someone else called this the "year of death."

In May, my neighbor (directly across the street ) of 18 yrs and a good friend passed away. Succumbed to cancer and I was with him til the very end. Last month, my neighbor (next door) of 18 years, also a fried of the family passed away. She was old, and she also succumbed to cancer. This was suprising since I see her regularly working in her yard. She did not seem ill, I had no idea. In my line of work, several peers have passed away this year. One old, one young -- neither showed any hint of the sadness that was to follow.

This morning, I rushed out to the hospital to visit my dying father (cancer, among various other ailments) but sadly he passed before I got there. This year can't finish fast enough for me. All I can wonder is WHY? Oh sure, I can blame it on Obama since it all seemed to coincidentally start with him taking the oath of office but of course even the most loony of loonies would think that is silly. So WHY and what is so special about this year? Someone please tell me.

I won't bore you all with the other personal issues and challenges I've had to face in 2009. Anyhow, this is now OFFICIALLY the worst year of my 46 year existence and the bad thing is -- the year isn't even over yet. Can someone please press the FF or skip button? I can't seem to find it.

Thank you all for your words of comfort in these trying times. My father was ill for very long and far exceeded the prognosis given to him almost a decade ago. As such, his death was not totally unexpected but the culmination of everything bad that has happened this year has made it a terrible year for me. I found comfort among many new friends in this forum as I tried to keep my mind off of things. You guys have been wonderful in your acceptance of me. Thank you all and God Bless.

~Norm.

I am certainly praying for you and your family. I could not fathom losing my dad, even though i know one day his card will be pulled. :-/ Just the fact that you have made it these ten years knowing what seemed immediately inevitable at the time and your dad being such a fighter for those ten years is a testament to your fathers strenghth and the strength you gained from him. God Bless you. :-)

My condolences Norm.
I have had to face some losses this year as well.
It seems the older we get the more we will see.
God rest your father's soul and God bless you and your family.
