is it just me or have some of the other people here been seeing posts vanishing or reappearing in different sections.
i have noticed this for a couple of days now and was wondering if anyone else is noticing the glitches .

Happened to me on Friday. Soon as I hit "submit" I was directed to another section of the forum and my post disappeared.

Almost every forum is going to have a moderator to ensure civility and decent behaviour.

The moderators (read fatdog) has discretion in which post are inflammatory or otherwise serve no useful purpose and can close a thread or remove a post or thread.

hey man i am not talking about posts being edited by a mod at all and while what you point out is valid it has nothing to do with what i am saying here.
it is completely off the mark of the intent of my original post.

what i am saying is there seems to be odd things exactly like what milosancho is saying.

the things i am talking about have nothing to do with posts being deleted or edited by a moderator.
what i am refering to is i think there may be some kind of problems with some of the html coding that hyperlinks stuff together that makes a forum run.

absolutely nothing to do with a moderator ensuring civility or decent behaviour :-)

there is for sure tho several times where what milosancho has described has happened to me.
i have also experienced some odd behaviour from the site when following links from the site as well.

I haven't experienced what you are talking about. I know that one thread was removed and another was moved recently within the past day or two. If that particular thread was moved or deleted while you were in the process of submitting a response, that could explain it.

But if that isn't what you are talking about, then I guess that wasn't it.

Hey Bill, can you give me a specific thread or something to look at? I haven't deleted any threads unless specifically asked to by the thread starter. There have been a couple of threads moved to the "trash" bin. Other than that, everything is pretty much the same.

Okay...

This might explain some things...

Example scenario:

Ira posts yet another long-winded, off-topic brain fart.

Tony comes along to post a reply to tell Ira to take his geritol.

However, before Tony clicks on the SUBMIT button, Ramon comes along and makes a quick post with his Ninja smiley.

Ramon made a post before Tony. Tony's reply has NOT been posted. Tony will get a notification that one or more posts have been made in the mean time before Tony clicked on the SUBMIT button.

Tony will have to click on the SUBMIT again to finally post his reply - OR - edit (and re-submit) his reply to flow with the new posts. If he does not, then his reply disappears forever.

What fadog said.... the first few times that happened, I wondered what they hay? But it didn't take long to sink in that if another post was made between when I started to write a reply and when I actually pressed the submit button, then I'd have to submit again for it to take. Nothing funny or glitchy about it, just takes some getting used to. I also noticed that if I take an excessively long time to write a reply then the reply will be invalid until I press submit again. I probably timed out. You just need to get used to it.

So, was that what was happening, Bill? Or is there something I need to be on the lookout for?

the other sure way to re-submit posts-- that have a post timed before it -
is to hit PREVIEW -
then hit SUBMIT
