Hey fellers... I'm a boomboxery lurker most of the time... absolutely LOVE these collections... maybe one day I can start getting a few boxes, but for the time being I just want to get one box... now in the first few pics I saw the GF777z in quite a few collections... I've been looking around for the past 6 weeks or so to find one that's not a ridiculous price... I know this dude on eBay sells NOS for anywhere from £400 to £900 it seems, I wondered if you guys bought from China? If so is there a particular seller you use that is reliable and honest?

Any tips on buying I would appreciate!

Thanks all

I got both my GF-777 from ebay Germany. The first time I got lucky and the seller sold it to me for a low price after I asked if BIN was possible. The second was a BIN as well, for a decent price. But most of the time ebay prices are way too high.
The only box I got from China is my Conion C-126F from xiaosan777168. Everything went well with that one  But GF-777s are pretty expensive in China even without shipping
I think you'll have to wait for a good opportunity to come and then take it. Boomboxes can be found anywhere - at fleas, thrifts, in your neighbors garage or your pal's grandmother's attic.

I like them big and flashy but with sound quality....I really dig the ones from the break dance era as they remind me of a much simpler time. I was a little young to partake but very much old enough for it to be relevant and very impressionable. My brother (4 years older born in 72) and I spent a lot of time in the city (Philly) and in dance clubs as well as skating rinks. We would get our weekly allowance and head straight to the city to hit local record shops in search of the latest club and hip hop tracks...music junkies if you will :hmmm: Being in the record shops a lot put the boombox culture was front and center...tons of street side DJ's for retail promotions and night club advertising as well as street performers and corner dance crews. :breakdance: I was more influenced by this than even my older brother ? Don't know why ? He loves this stuff and enjoys checking it out when he's over but doesn't participate in the collecting side of things. Having a cool boombox now is a part of life that I missed out on at an earlier stage....don't get me wrong I would of did anything to have one as a child but my parents both worked full time just to make ends meet so asking for a REAL box back then was a little selfish and unreasonable. I had a couple small boxes and so did my brother but I wanted a dream box like everyone else here IE: GF777, C-100F, M-90, blah blah blah Now that I have the opportunity to own a few of these classic treasures I sort of buy all the ones I lusted over as a kid

Fortunately my family gets it and enjoys it just the same...we often crank up the Conion and listen to old school vinyl as we enjoy a sit down dinner or game night. It's also not out the ordinary to make room in the car on family holiday for a Boombox to tag along

they are a big part of our life LOL so are the Records

@ SmokinEndo I totally understand where your coming from ....I think that's why i have so much interest in these awesome jewels. Lately I have been getting caught up in explaining to everyone why my interests is so strong in collecting these prehistoric beasts from my childhood.....Its sooo much easier here than in the real world.....ughhh!
