I don't see how it would damage the tape. If anything, it might damage the tweeters if the volume is too high. Toshiba Bombeat music search is awful in that regard. You HAVE to turn the volume all the way down.

That would drive me nuts. I can faintly hear the tape when I scan on my Pioneer CK-3 and I want it to be silent. :annoyed:
