Which Sanyo sounds best - M9994 v M9998 ?

Hi Guys,

I've recently been enjoying the sound from my partly restored Sanyo M9998K and got to wondering how the sound of this model would compare to the smaller M9994?

I've never heard a healthy M9994 as the one I had only worked on one channel due to a volume pot issue.

You hear nothing but huge praise for the M9994 but rarely hear a thing about the M9998. Why?

So in other words, am I gaining anything with regards to audio performance if I buy an M9994 over a healthy M9998 or am I going backwards?

Both are different and very nice to have. I would definitely encourage anyone to have both, because although the M9998, to me was the better of the two side by side, the M9998 has that midrange adjustment that allows you to tailor the sound to the surroundings . Very handy. I miss mine.

I think I liked the sound of the M9994K a bit better than the M9998K that I had.
It seemed like the M9994K had a little better sound overall than the M9998K,"imho"......
Both are great well built units though.......

Actually it's the 9994 that has a midrange booster button.

They're both good sounding boxes, but it's really going to depend on the condition.

The reason the 9998 wasn't as popular is because it's heavy and it isn't shaped right for carrying.

The 9998 may havr a little more bass but i feel that the 9994 goes louder and may have better mids because of that mid-button!
I have 2 of each!!

To me the 9994k has a better soundstage. Vocals and instruments sound very crisp and clear. The 9998 may have better bass but overall sound goes to the 9994.
