Which Box Have You Never Seen In The Flesh

having owned in the past both an m70 and m90 i can tell you what i felt about them-size of course-well the m90 was a big unit to say the least,must have been going on for 3ft long and probably 2 ft tall nearly?cant remember exact dimensions-sound was as you can emagine very nice-warm bass and nice and balanced treble-everything worked so well on it ergonomically,everything so well screwed together etc-tape mechanism seemed quite noisy when in action which to me was a bit of a dissapointment but if you cranked the volume it compensates for it slightly and hid the noisy mechanism a bit-all round the perfect large portable for the connesieur!
m70 now-more mid sized sharp gf8989 size but thats where the similarities end-awesome sounding,powerful and capable of anything!i rated it above my m90 even-biggest regret was letting that go-to fund a woman id started going out with and couldnt keep up with-well never again i assure you
do your best to secure an m70-you will not regret a single moment of it

Yeah, I guess that's about it. I would love to hear the Crown and the Toshiba some day just to see if the hype is true. Honestly (even though I risk getting yelled at by saying this) I believe the 970 cannot be so much better than the 850 and the Bombeat 40 cannot be much better than the S90.

Agreed........ I've never seen a 40, so I wonder if it's considered a grail because of its styling, or its sound? Yes it's rare, but there are other boxes that are even more rare, so I'm going to have to say it's because of its styling, because Toshibas tend to be weak on bass.

Having been at several Sunshine Mix meets, I can honestly say that I've heard just about all of the grails.

And my M90 whooped 'em all! (incl. the Tosh 40 )

But the one box has eluded those meets and which I really want to see and hear for myself, is the Sanyo Big Ben.

Im with Mono here. Even not talkin for the passive radiators of wx and sx. . Love the toshiba's sound .

Never met any other m"ore hardcore collectors" (my friends are bboys and hip hop heads so almost most of them have a boombox or two). So I have basically only heard the boxes that I own.

Big Ben
All Bombeats

Well I have an RT-8890, and RT-200, and they are both weaksauce.....Their woofers aren't screwed to the cabinet, they're hanging free on these silly posts.

Now, I wouldn't doubt the S90 has decent bass, since it was top of the line. But as for the Bombeat 40, I don't have much faith in that one, since you can tell by looking at it that it shares the exact same deck as my weaksauce RT8890, so there might be other shared parts as well.

As for the WX, that is a 3-piece, so it doesn't count
