Peace, i have heard a few times people mention that for example a Sharp GF 777 amongst others are not the most ideal box for playing old school Hip Hop on.
Some insight would be great to what boxes would be best for this genre of music or even better maybe a list of boxes and preferred music genre played on them.

Thanks
Excel.

Depends what you mean by old school. Real old school doesn't have as much bass as the stuff from the last 20 yrs.

Anyway, for half the price of a 777 you could get a Crown 850 which has great bass and looks cool. There are some people who claim it doesn't sound good, but that's probably because they are using lame 1.2V rechargable batteries instead of 1.5's, or using a voltage converter that doesn't have a decent wattage rating.

:agree: the crown 850 is an awesome sounding box with lots of bass. this radio is bad ass i just wish it had a handle.

For me, theres no box that comes close to the big Lasonics for hip hop.
The TRC-931 (original models) and 975 just destroy.

These boxes were DESIGNED for this music, much like a lot of 70s boxes sound incredible for rock, or jazz.

I'm sure MONO will back me up on this!

I damn sure will, Glue!!! Hahaha!!!

Add to that the visual effects from watching the white woofers of the Lasonics move... They simply CAN NOT be beat!!

RC-M90 outdoors/indoors.............what can I say!

I agree with this to a point, tho they don't have the deeper bass of the big Lasonic models... The power is off the chain tho!! Love the M90!!

Yeah, if you're talking about anything BEFORE T La Rock & Jazzy Jay's 'It's Yours', you're dead on... The Roland TR-808 changed the game!

:agree: C100F (Japanese versions), Wheely (all a.k.a.s), all Lasonics (900 series) ,..haven't heard an M90 louder than 30% so, I can't vouch for real bassiness.

I would say no to the Kaboom..........not enough highs unless you add tweeters....

Yes Reli, but the thread quastion is "Lots of Bass"! ;-)

To me, the kabooms have "enough highs" for old and new hip hop tracks...

Try to hear some CUF tracks with no Kabooms!!!
