When We All Die... (inspired by Bill's "i am crazy" post)

Hey Bros!

I know that it probably sounds like the title of a poem to many of you...
Maybe it's fatalistic, or even tragic in a way, true; but just stop and think about it at least for a yoctosecond...

We didn't bring anything with us when we came to this world, and anything we posess now we've gotten it here right?
We got here empty handed and empty handed we'll all leave... this is all in a very good way that I mean it of course!
Please don't misunderstand me.

Anything we "win" on ePay or buy or "scoop" or "catch" or sell (specially in our hobby) belonged to somebody else, and after we pass away that same thing will belong to someone else, and so on, and so on, and so on...

You know what? After reading Bill's wondeful "i am crazy" post it made me think that we're all a bit crazy actually; and it also made me think about when I die. Not in a melodramatic way, but in a serious "stop-and-think" way.

So this idea came up... Is Aleia (my daughter) gonna give the same care and love as I do for my boomboxes after I pass? Will she be "Strānj-Mini-Bōōmbŏks" in the future? Will there be a "Mini-Fatdog" maintaining all these wonderful posts? Or a "Mini-Eldorado" uploading his unique and creative videos of him struttin' his stuff through the streets of Neo-Portugal like his dad did? Can you imagine this site still being up when none of us are here anymore? Trip.

I have many of my dad's things and just yesterday a split-second thought crossed my mind to sell one of his cameras to be able get a newer "better" digital monster camera... What was I thinking??? Like a very good friend of mine shouted out when I told him my plan: "sacrilege!". No way am I gonna do THAT!

All of us here at boomboxery are very lucky to have a place like this to make friends who share the same love for the past and our love for music and life. You're all wonderful people and I know that in the coming years we'll all be even better friends than we are now. We all have many things in common aside from Boomboxes and Music.

So my question really for all you here is:
When you die, have you thought about who you're gonna leave all your wonderful boomboxes to? :hmmm:
And if so, why that person?
If not, it would be a good time to start thinking about it! ;-)

Thanks to Fatdog for being the administrator and creator of this awesome site,

All you guys make my life pretty enjoyable! :smooch:

No one in my family cares about my boxes - I will have them sold at my death to people who enjoy this hobby and the money donated.

Well...

I think my Sansui's would be kept because my family knows that this brand was special to me. That's why I got my 5000x originally from my dad (handed down to me) and have his old SX-1130 reciever as well as some other stuff. I can't say what would happen to the rest of my collection though. :hmmm:

I guess most of mine will be sold or dumped as i have no one who is interested in them, eg my brother once called them junk, wich in a way they are

While some might think of Stranj's post as slightly morbid, it is one that all of us will have to address sooner or later. Right now, I don't see my wife or daughter keeping any of my boomboxes. :-/ It would surprise me if even one boombox stayed on with the family. I would like to see them distributed to Boomboxery members.

Of course, Freddie will get the Sansui FX-500R (if he doesn't finagle it out of hands before then).

Also, concerning the site... There really needs to be some sort of "continuity" plan.

I've instructed my wife, when I die, to post a notice on this board and then a little later do an open-house (and storeroom) and let whoever shows up to take whatever they want. First come, first served. No dibs. Whether she'll actually do it is anybody's guess. She hates it when people track footprints through the house.
:annoyed:

But don't start your engines just yet. I passed my last stress test and colonoscopy with flying colors.
