I bought my Pioneer SK-21 and Panasonic RX-5100 from Pacific Stereo and I'd go in there every week to drool over boxes like the JVC RC-550.

I remember those Federated comercials. They used to have a huge one in Pinole, Ca. near my house. Used to visit there all the time and play with the boomboxes.

I'm pretty sure I paid around $120 for both models. :hmmm:
That was huge $$$ for a 14 year old kid in 1980

Autographed pictures.... CLASSIC! Yeah, I forgot about Frieda Rated! They were so funny. We had one in Canoga Park. They had EVERYTHING Electronics. The first time I ever saw a VCR was there. Also top end stuff like Nakamichi, Blaupunkt and the like. Stuff you could not get at Sears, Montgomery Wards or Radio Shack.

Your talking about those huge top loading VCR's.
Every once in a while I see one at the thrifts but they don't stay on the shelf very long, do people collect them? I can't imagine anyone buying one to use.

Those and I think they had front loaders as well. I remember my dad buying a new Zenith system 3 console tv with built in phone and a new VCR. He paid like $3000 for both!!!!

My dads had that 20 foot cable on remote too and a 100 foot cable on the $1500 video camera he bought to record with...LOL

He was able to take it outside in front of house and video tape us. The extra bag with a battery operated portable VCR cost another $1000+ or so but he never got it....
