hi guys, been a while since i posted anything fresh but im so disheartened recently.after the year from hell last year when i had my scooter-bike stolen  im limited to how many car boot sales etc i can get round, hence im finding nothing, nothing at all.i even have several house clearance contacts stored in my phone who, for, lets face it nearly the whole of this year so far have drawn a blank too.did my first proper car boot sale this wednesday and all i came up with was a fifties portable reel to reel player, the grandad of the boombox.im even giving it serious thought of taking up the hobby of collecting and restoring these instead :hmmm: then i gets a phone call from a pal this morning whos at the massive york car boot to say hes found 5 decent boomers, and got them all for 18 pounds-including a quality fisher mini, and a sharp gf7500!sorry to be a moaner but it just seems luck is never on my side of late, and all my buddies around me seem to be awash with boxes, and im sick of buying back or swapping boxes back with mates that were mine in the first place :grim: so,im interested in how people are doing in general at carbootsales and charity shops/auctions and flea markets right now in the uk?and im not on about ebay,as thats another hate story im afraid
come on guys, whats the state of play for you right now?

yeah, the fleas around here only have little cheap monos and eggs, for ebay you need to be hitting the refresh button a lot. You might get lucky, but mostly not.

I guess that's why us Boombox collectors post about our "scores", they're that damn rare just about any find in the wild counts as a score.

Don't give up Andy, good boxes will come your way.

SO TRUE!

This is a tough sport....Way harder then I thought it would be. When I first got into this, I honestly thought all I had to do was walk into a thrift store and I'd have my pick of radios. The emotional roller coaster of collecting will probably give me an ulcer. Between the mix of walking through a thrift store with high hopes and not finding anything to being sniped at the last second on ePay....this sport will eat you alive if you let it....

Some times you need to look back at when you have found a radio and that euphoria you felt.

It's allot like panning for gold....You have to sift through tons of dirt to get that hidden NUGGET!

Hey if it were easy to pick up these things then where's the fun in that?...the absolute thrill of finding something awesome would be lost if we could walk into the nearest shop and buy a grail for a cheap price :)

And to answer your question, I find sod all at car boots etc lol :(

Flea markets, swap meets and boot sales are cyclical and are all about luck. You just have to hang in there and wait for lightning to strike. Same for eBay. There was an M70 that went for peanuts. (I missed it. :-/ ) I got some serious boombox heat though recently for peanuts. Just was the right time. Your will come too bro'. :-D

Cool! At least you are finding them in the wild. Tennessee sucks balls when it comes to finding boomboxes.

Oh...I don't know about that...you were generous enough to provide me with a fine example of what "could" be found...but it would equal ten midpack finds I guess.
