So, we read plenty of threads on driving for radios, but what is the furthest you have traveled SPECIFICALLY for a radio.

I'm not saying, you drove the wife and kids to grandma's house and while you were there you hit the thrift store and found a radio.

I mean, you heard of a radio, got in the car (or plane :w00t: ) and traveled to go get it.

Technically, I flew to Japan and brought back radio's, but I was there to see my wife, not just on a boombox mission.

For me, the furthest I have ever traveled just for a radio was from Los Angeles to Oakland (near San Francisco) and back in one day. That was to get my Realistic SCR-8 from Sinister. I think that was 760 miles round trip????

I havn't had any real big grail blasters that were worth making a trip for. I think my most is maybe 200 miles round trip :hmmm: .

I've never really gone out of my way for a blaster but I used to visit 20 thrift shops a day

Well, I've been to the guy that has the VZ (technician) so many times, I've had to take 2 buses to get there, and 2 to get back without getting the box that I think by the time I do get it, I would've beaten Chris's trip to Oakland....!!!

I have been very lucky, my furthest road trip was about 30 miles to San Francisco to pick up my Lasonic TRC 931, it was deep in the hood but well worth it. Most of my boombox trips involve going to Norm's house and talking him out of one of his radios... :-D

Wow, and to think I think twice about driving 12 hours one way to bring a classic car home ! There's some true diehards on this board :-)
