These machines are amazing - I remember 1982 for many reasons & this is one of them!

Way out of my affordability bracket then & wanted to own one so badly - Just one guy I knew had one & it was king without question! We all had a boombox then, it's not until you look back on your life that you realise that these things were mandatory I remember all us lads meeting up at an 'older lady's' residence on a less than desirable area

(She had a bit of a rep for 'younger men' lol) We would all lounge around the house with our stereo's, it was just so normal - we would compare them of course - I had a Triumph SRR-5000 from curry's & it was pretty good for it's time!! But the king was this guys Philips, it tackled whatever we threw at it effortlessly & my memories of that time are still very vivid (Some of us were 'attended to' by that lady too) Bonus

Funny how when you have a stereo from your distant past, the memories flood back, I remember it all like yesterday - wish I could go back just for a week!

I never ever expected to find one in 2016 that wasn't knackered so it made my year getting this one

& the bass?? Just extraordinary for something that doesn't look like it could pump like it does!! I like how you can turn the bass way up & it just delivers

The inspiration found here to begin my first ever BB collection and finding the confidence to build a Boom Room. I felt I had neither prior to 2016. :yes:

My Best find of 2016 was going to my first meet, the Vegas Summit! Finally met other collectors and had the time of my life! :hooray: :yes:

for me ? A GF9696 with all the paperwork i found on a local secondhand website for 80 euros

I will have to dig through my threads and see what my 2016 blasters were! I think the parts blaster M90 with the hole in the side of the case could be it.

Two Goldstar TSR-800's that I found from German eBay within a week or two. The other was a lucky bid, for the other I had to send a few price proposals. Not exactly cheap, but as the shipping cost are almost always around 20 to 35 euros, the boomers them self weren't so badly priced, 51€ for the bid, 85€ for the proposal. A bit of cleaning, painting the VU-needles with fresh fluorescent orange and some belt work and they both work ok (IIRC) :-P

Yeah,but it's not all that nice. I don't have the patience to find all the cosmetic parts it needs.haha.
I rock it on my workdesk.
The echo effect is cool,though.

I am going to say my best of 2016 is............. I can tell you this my best buy for price was the Fisher PH480. Very clean and once I got her fully restored I was able to sell for profit and buy a minty M70 :-)

Thats a tough decision, between my HELIX HX-4635, the OSAKA discolite from Max, and the Sanyo Big Ben from James, I cant really decide. All of em fit very nicely in my collection though :-)
