The Sanyo M9935K was my boombox way back in 1983/84. When I saw a Sanyo M9935K sitting on a shelf in a Goodwill store in 2005, it all went downhill from there.

1983, Bought a Lasonic TRC-920 from an Asian couple running a booth at the Saugus Swap Meet in Valencia, California. Their booth was filled with electronics.

Come to think of it, I wonder if that was the family that started Lasonic???? I'm going to have to ask that question next time I talk to James at Lasonic

My "quest" helped me find Stereo2go, then Boomboxery. Kind of a weird "quest". My first boombox in the 80's was a Sanyo C8. Then I traded that in for a JVC M90. Then I was going to trade that in for a Sharp GF-777z. But by the time I saved my money. They discontinued the GF 777z. So then about 6 years ago, I saw some boomboxes on Epay. So I started my search for the GF-777z. Which led me to Stereo2go :-) Luckily there was an "American" in China at that time. So I got a real nice GF-777z. My child-hood dream box:)

WOW, these are kind of wild numbers for me....I mean, more peoples first radio was a Lasonic than a SONY

I'm also surprised Sharp was more than JVC or Panasonic. :w00t:

I really thought Panasonic would be the most.

Wild

Sharp 24% [ 7 ]
Jvc 17% [ 5 ]
National / Panasonic 13% [ 4 ]
Sony 3% [ 1 ]
Lasonic 6% [ 2 ] x
Sanyo 10% [ 3 ]
Akai 0% [ 0 ]
Toshiba 3% [ 1 ]

A less common brand or aka eg conion awa crown vela .... 17% [ 5 ]

Funny thing was is Panasonic RX5010 was 1st stereo boombox I bought for around $50 as a teen (1983)Then 25 years later (2008) while working on my Lasonic TRC975 cleaning it up and fixing bad solder joints I decided to check eBay under Boomboxes and seen another Lasonic TRC975 selling for over $800 :-O Astonished about price I kept looking and found my 1st buy... a Panasonic RX5010 for around $50  So in actuality the Panasonic RX5010 was my 1st buy both times :-D

For me it's my SHARP's and my CONION's. Have 3 big ones of each. Don't think I could ever part with my Graffiti 777 or my 2 CONION's C-100's (1Jap & 1Korean). I also have 2 HK-9000's. Those are the boxes I remember when I was a kid.

Sharp for me like the majhority - my first proper box was a VZ2500 and coming back to them 30 years later the range Sharp had (and that I now want!) really still stands out for me.

M :-D very first Boombox was a Craig In 76' then a Sanyo In 80'
then a Sharp GF-8989II In 81' then a JVC I'n 85'.
But it was a Sharp GF-8989II that I bought I'n 06' and a 777 later
that year that really got me going.
Later it was a JVC PC-55C then I started going crazy! :-O
With over 140 I don't care now.
But after October I start again with more grails. :-O :-D
