Jeannie and I were following this van while guy was swerving all over road.. I video taped the whole thing and we saw the most horendous thing..The guy in the van swerved into on comming traffic and lost control and then was T boned by an oncomming car.. The guy was completly thrown from van and landed face down...We just found out the guy passed away by the state trooper who took our statement and asked for the video...The other 2 people in the other car were very lucky and only sutained a broken ankle and the the young girl has a broken wrist..
.This was such a tragedy and we just wish we could have done more to prevent it

Sorry Bill that you had to experience that!
I didn't watch the video as I'm on dial-up right now but maybe it's for the better!
I'm so sad right now for other things in my life righ now.

On another note: I was listening to WCCO Radio 830 AM this morning on my Sharp GF-8989II-830 miles away and hear that 4 teenage girls on Interstate 94 up by Alexandia,Minnesota died in the snow that they had last night as they lost control due to icy conditions and went into on coming traffic and hit a SUV and all died!! 3 were 18 and 1 was 19. :'-( :sadno:

I couldn't sleep last night, bad nightmares and we had an earthquake! 4.0 at 4:00 am! Just shook one wall for a second! No damage but wierd! BTW,I'm in Northwest,Tn.
Man what's going on?? :-O
I feel for you though Bill, that must have been horrible!

I hope things get better and there are no more major tragedies!
Have a good week-try to at least! :sadno:

Accidents are pretty scary. One week after 911 I nearly killed by a semi truck doing 70 mph. I was in the passenger side of the bosses b2000 pickup. The truck that his us literally tore the side of the truck I was sitting in right off. The truck was 18 inches narrower after we were hit. I actually had to be extracted by the firemen. The other thing that was really scary was when the truck hit us the grill of the Mack was no more than a couple of inches away from my head. Right before the accident we were talking about people we knew who in really bad accidents. A few moments before the accident I told my boss the truck in the other lane was going to crash into us. I actually heard a loud distinct voice tell me to move over. I literally moved right over besides my boss. The guy in the Mack with the pup got too close to the car he was tailgating and nailed his brakes. He went sideways right into us I still have the jacket with the hole rip in the elbow of the sleeve . When we were stopped I actually thought I was dead for more than a few seconds, the looks on people's faces passing by the accident peering into the wreackage was very creepy. Aside from a torn rotator cuff I did not have a mark on me, my work boots were filled with glass. I have no clue how that could even happen. The next day I asked my boss if he was the one who told me to move to the middle of the truck and he said no. He as well as I thought the luck I had that day was impossible. Even the first people who stopped who were off duty cops said I should have been killed. I had severe pts after that crash. It was really the closest to death I've been.

HOLY CRAP!!! :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop:
I can't imagine seeing that in person. :-/
I wonder if the guy in the van was having an attack "heart or diabetic etc"?
That was terrible..... :'-(
But on a lighter note at least the people in the Focus are alive and you got it on tape.....

Baddboybill you were at the right and at right place too bad for the driver in the van.

Next time you witness something like that call the authorities immediately. :police:

Bill I too have been involved some serious accidents when I was a child my mom and I were heading home when a car T-boned the left side driver door, it happened so fast that when it was over my mom's head was resting on the wheel and was not responsive. I panic and I didn't know what to do I was only a child. In the end my mom was OK and I was traumatized for days. Thanks to our Newport vehicle which helped my mom, in those days cars were built with heavy metal.

Seeing my mom resting on the wheel I thought she had passed away, as a child it was scary to see that.

Glad to see you made through Bill there must be an angel watching over you.

Thanks everyone...Jeannie and I are still freaked out by the whole thing  This whole thing happened so fast, the van was swerving back n forth in front of us when all of a sudden it slowed down to almost a complete stop. It then rolled slowly for a second or two, I reached for my phone to call 911 when the van sped up real fast while swerving. I decided to start taping the van instead and within that small amount of time the accident happened. I realize now that calling 911 would only have caused no time for video recording, plus no time for police to arrive to stop the van. Here is an article from in local paper about accident...

A Kankakee man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on Illinois Route 17 near 6000W Road, a few miles west of the city.

George L. McGrath, 56, died at Provena St. Mary's Hospital at 4:02 p.m., said Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner. An autopsy was scheduled this morning but Gessner said McGrath most likely died of massive head and chest injuries.

McGrath, who was driving west on Route 17, was ejected from his green Dodge Caravan after it collided with silver Ford Focus. Ellen Hill, 54, of Bonfield, the driver of the Ford, and her passenger, whose name has not yet been released, were transported to Riverside Medical Center. Their conditions were unknown as of press time.

Illinois State Police determined McGrath ran off the road, overcorrected and swerved into the eastbound lane.

Tragic. Sad. Life changing for all involved. I've responded to/ seen WAY too many death scenes. It's the ones involving children that haunt me. I'm still bothered by having a toddler's Brain matter on my Police uniform during a fatal traffic accident I was on years ago. It's NEVER easy to handle/see traffic accidents, etc. Bill, I hope you and Jeannie are doing better. Talk it out with each other. It helps.
