Just watched the below teardown and I'm very impressed with the build quality of this unit. Wow & flutter of 0.15 is not too shabby for 2025 as well. I may save some pennies and buy after Christmas.

I would have likely gotten one of these if they had added a digital FM tuner. And I can hear it now. Someone is yelling at their screen at this very moment while reading this saying: "Who listens to the radio these days anyway?". Well, probably the old-school person who would appreciate those beautiful VU meters while listening to their favorite cassettes I suppose :hmmm:. Yes, not everyone listens to the radio but IMO if you're going to have a cassette player in there with VU meters, might as well keep it old school all the way. Especially for $500 dollars.

They have stiff competition already with the China-box for $249 with Radio/DAB+ and CD/Cassette Player w/Bluetooth. And with the BB777 on the horizon with a kickstarter price of $549/$579, they'll need to dial their price back if they want to be competitive.

This is just my opinion. I am not knocking this product.

I think they're going after a different type of customer. Coffee-house hipsters who haven't been paying attention to all the other boomboxes on the market.

Do we know if the BB777 will have a proper erase magnet or permanent?

At this point, there isn't a boombox on the market that plays cassettes, that has the performance of the We Are Rewind. That of course can change very soon with the BB777. I'm excited.

That's a good question.

I know they were talking about sourcing Japanese head replacements versus going with the heads that come by default on the Tanashin style deck clones. But I am not sure if that includes an active erase head. I sure hope so because that's truly the only way to get a decent recording.

@mellymelsr may be able to answer that for us here when he logs in again.

I actually don't like it that much. I bet it preforms just fine but it looks like they tryed to make a boombox minimalistic. Plus, 500 dollars! Really? I'll be just dandy with my Conion and BB-777 coming soon thank you very much

The Chinese could easily make a better deck. Better even than a Nakamichi or Tandberg. The problem is, nobody would be willing to pay for it.

The reason it looks like a ghettoblaster prototype is because it really is a prototype that is publically released in my opinion. It's the barebones cassette player with bluetooth on the side. No radio. If this one takes off, We-R-Rwnd would probl;ably take a chance on a full blown old-skoo boomer.

Could you imagine if someone revisited the C100 with today's tech? That would be epic & a total rich man's toy. We'll have to see the BB777 & how well it does in the real community of real boomheads..

btw, piamo music is the most forgiving of cheap sound systems so using that for a review is a bit misleading especially when its a video recording of the audition...

I hope the BB-777 will do well . Don't know how it will be accepted , kids will not go for one like we were when we had the $$$$
Depending on the succes of the 777 we may see some more boxes revived. That would be cool

The, We Are Rewind Boombox. You just came out for sale recently. It’s now February and it was a couple months ago. It came out. So far it’s received very good reviews. First from TECHOMAN. he was very impressed by the Bill quality. But more importantly, the sound quality. He said it sounds better than most of our all of the Boombox as he had in the 80s or once he’s come across from the 80s. They apparently have put it up very good quality, amplifier and speakers. Other reviews I’ve seen have said exactly the same thing very very good. Sound quality currently does not have a tuner in this version, but I spoke to someone at the company. They said they didn’t want to put a tutoring for this version. Because it would’ve been a little too complicated as there’s different radio standards in the UK USA and other parts of the world.

But he did say that in the next version of the Boombox probably December 2026 or spring 2027. They will most likely include a tuner for the US version. Along with the backlight for the cassette as well as a counter. So I’ll hold off until that model comes out. But if someone doesn’t care about the tuner and just wants it for a cassette player/recorder Bluetooth. I don’t think you can go wrong as it’s not any other Boombox now that is nearly as good build quality in a more important sound quality from the several reviews I’ve already seen.

They omitted the tuner because for Europe, they'd have to include DAB+. Then they'd have different SKUs for different regions, which is costly for such a small company. I imagine they'll make a FM/AM version for rest of the world and then a DAB+/FM/AM version for Europe.

Digital tuners are extremely cheap. There are many cheap Chinese amplifier boards that come with a tuner, bluetooth, and memory card inputs already integrated on one board.

The only way it would become expensive is if We Are Rewind decided to add a physical tuner dial, needle, and knob. But those are just cosmetic features that nobody really needs.
