Hi I have just built a vz2000 from two units that had separate faults, all is good and everything works ,but when I play records the volume has to be turned up to maximum to hear it probably, the cassette and radio are extremely loud on full volume ,could anybody advise me if I have a problem or is this the way these units operate,if anybody knows or have had this problem, any information would be appreciated, many thanks Ade

I've owned 4 of these boxes and the loudness on records is slightly lower than FM and cassette. Mind you it's not by much . if you have to crank it up all the way for it to be loud then there's definitely something wrong.

Do you see this problem when you play both sides or with one side only?

Hey I’m glad to say my vz2000 is all back working again,I’ve replaced both stylus’s and cleaned the phono pot out again and it’s done the trick,I’ve now got full volume on the turntable, isn’t it a buzz when you get a 44 year old boom box back working after all the years,I had to buy a donor machine to make one good one,i paid £100 pounds each for them ,so not too bad ,one of the turntables had a complete crack on it ,so I swapped this and that ,a good clean ,stripped the cassette down ,new belts etc on cassette and turntable all pots cleaned ,sprayed speaker covers as they were rusty ,will post pics soon ,next project is the vz2500,thanks for your help and advice much appreciated, let’s keep them boxes boom in ,
